Baby Reveal Cholcoate causes outrage in NZ

Ive always been Totally for gay marriage, I believe what someone wants to be called, you call
them that, if someone identifies with being.....

Straight, Gay, Bi, Trans, Non Binary Gender etc etc etc.

Its all each to their own.

"Whittakers Chocolate" in New Zealand have just had a launch of a new coconut chocolate bar.

Its called "Baby Reveal" its for parents having baby gender reveal parties.

One you open the wrapping, you find out if the chocolate is pink or blue.

A group here has complained, because its apparently offensive, because they think whittakers are saying, there are only
two genders.

Again, Im really left wing, but of all the freakin things to complain about, its a chocolate bar,
just a little quirky gimmick, I for the life of me cant believe someone would be offended by it.

for people who wish to avoid gender designation. Which defeats the purpose of a gender reveal.

A gender reveal is nothing more than the result of a doctor telling you which set of genitals you child is developing. If later in life the child chooses something different or nothing at all that is their business but that is years away.

I have a young friend whose wife is pregnant, and they simply announced, with great joy, on FB that they're having a girl.

I am old fashioned enough to think we should all find out when the baby is born, but then I'm of a much older generation.

I am aware that babies are born whose sex/gender is ambiguous, although I don't know if that shows up in the gender testing that is typically done, which I suspect only looks for an XX or an XY chromosome.

Plus, of course, someone who identifies as the other (not their biological) gender, or who identifies as genderless, isn't going to know until some years on.
