and marrying ISIS fighter was a big mistake
With U.S.-backed forces closing in on ISIS in Syria, young mother Hoda Muthana is pleading for a second chance and the opportunity to return home to her family in Alabama.
"I realized I've made a big mistake and I know I've ruined my future and my son's future and I deeply, deeply regret it," she said in an interview with The Guardian newspaper.
Muthana is one of 1,500 foreign women and children living in a Kurdish-run refugee camp in northern Syria.
Muthana's family lawyer, Hassan Shibly, told ABC News the young mother was "brainwashed" by ISIS and now feels "tremendous remorse."
"This is a young, vulnerable woman who was brainwashed and manipulated by monsters who took advantage of her," Shibly said in an interview that airs on "Good Morning America" on Tuesday morning. "Hooda is absolutely disgusted by the person she became while under the spell."

I'm really torn on this one.

(3,259 posts)Is she being held by Kurdish authorities at the current moment? Did she surrender herself with charges pending over her?
Either way, I wish I could wish her to American soil immediately. Sort out the rest after we get her back home. Fill the plane with other asylum seekers while we're at it.

(82,849 posts)This girl was 15 years old when she ran off to join ISIS. I'll warrant that it's a bit more serious than "stole Dad's car keys and went joyriding, ending up in a ditch or the neighbor's pool," but her expression of contrition sounds sincere. Let's get her back in the country, and figure out what should be done with her that isn't going to likewise punish her son.

(6,829 posts)Let her come home and face justice including many years in prison as a terrorist.
She only wants to come home now because the "caliphate" is smashed and she's in a wretched internment camp. I have no confidence that she's changed after 4 years and willingly entering into 3 marriages with other terrorists. At 19 years old she knew that ISIS was torturing people, beheading innocent captives, other atrocities like burning a pilot alive in a cage, brainwashing MUCH younger women etc.
Fuck her

(21,871 posts)she was 19 when she left. There are 2 isis brides in the news currently because they met up at the Syrian refugee camp where they are both staying.
there is another isis bride who you might be referring to who is 19. She just gave birth 2 days ago. she is british/bangladeshi:

Her child will meanwhile be taken by those whose duty is to protect children from harm, and they hopefully will find her family suitable to care for him. Should any prosecutable crimes be turned up, then her pretty face and "I vuss just clueless" story could come into play in sentencing.

(3,145 posts)She was an ADULT
She traveled TO the ME meet up with ISIS, they didn't come here to get her.
Bring her back, terminate her parental rights and place her child with a loving family that can raise it without the taint of extremist Islamic terrorism, and put her on trial. If she's convicted toss her ass in ADX for the rest of her life.
Heartless? Damn right it is. I have ZERO fucks to give her as I have reserved those for the innocent victims of ISIS, that organization that she so willfully joined.
While folks are shedding tears for this terrorist take a moment to shed some for the gays that her crew tossed off buildings or the Jordanian pilot they horrifically burned to death or the people they brutally executed and filmed for the world to see.

(33,345 posts)The quality of mercy is not strained;
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
T is mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown:
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthronèd in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest Gods
When mercy seasons justice.

(55,445 posts)There's a similar case in England too: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/shamima-begum-baby-birth-runaway-isis-bride-return-uk-a8783221.html
Funny how many of these "brainwashed" women who ran off to marry ISIS soldiers and bear their hellspawn are instantly "cured" now that they've got a rugrat to feed in some raggedy assed tent and discover all of a sudden the schools and hospitals and childcare and social services they left behind are GOOD things and now they LOVE the West... Sorry, she doesn't get to jump sides from Jihadist to All-American suburban mom whenever it suits her...

(16,168 posts)she was old enough to know what she was doing. Abetting the enemy, although that's probably not what she was thinking, in my mind is treason.
With all her flaws, America is a pretty good place to live, much better than a mud shack in a Muslim country.
Let her come back and face the consequences of her actions.

(17,863 posts)Look up the Wikipedia pages for Axis Sally and Tokyo Rose. I have far more sympathy for Tokyo Rose who was a young woman in Tokyo when the war broke out. Her parents were placed in a US detention center.
A better analogy would be the two Axis Sallies. One spent 10 years in prison for treason, the other had renounced her citizenship and was tried by the Italians.

(2,736 posts)ISIS bride Hoda Muthana once urged jihadis to take down Obama
The American ISIS bride who is now begging to be allowed back into the US once urged jihadis to take down President Barack Obama calling him a treacherous tyrant.
You can look up Obamas schedule on the white house website. Take down that treacherous tyrant! Hoda Muthana tweeted from her now-suspended Twitter account @ZumarulJannah in March 2015, according to a screengrab on Heavy.com.The tweet came the same day she exhorted supporters in America to go on drivebys and rent a big truck and drive all over them at Veterans, Patriot, Memorial etc Day parades.
Muthana posted the online screed after her first husband, Australian ISIS fighter Suhan Rahman, was killed in Syria.
She also tweeted out a photo of his bloodied body, writing, Im the most content I have ever been in my life, and adding, And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead, according to the Daily Mail.

(53,410 posts)I say its a damn good thing justice in this country isnt meted out based on opinion polls.
Do people really think shes going to get away with what she did? Do they think the Syrian government is just going to hand her child over to the US and keep her? The child may be American but hes also a Syrian Citizen.
We have a Constitution and unless she officially gave up her US citizenship she still has the right to a trial in our justice system.
Reading some of the comments here I cant tell the difference between some people here and the MAGAts.
