Snow has begun in Omaha: Travel to become 'hazardous or impossible;' districts cancel classes
By Nancy Gaarder and Bob Glissmann / World-Herald staff writers Feb 19, 2019 Updated 4 hrs ago
Snow has begun falling in the Omaha metro area, and the rate is expected to intensify after nightfall and coming to an end by about noon Wednesday.
The storm has forecasters warning that travel could become dangerous in the region. Metro area school districts have canceled Tuesday evening activities and Wednesday classes.
Another 6 to 9 inches is expected overnight into Wednesday, the National Weather Service said. That would be on top of the approximately 9 inches already on the ground.
"Tonight into tomorrow morning will be very bad as far as snowfall," said meteorologist Dave Eastlack of the weather service office in Valley.

6 years ago today we buried my father in Iowa. It was so cold the trumpet froze playing taps. My in-laws live in Northern Missouri and our daughter is going to school there as well.
It felt cold here today, but will be back in the 70s by Thursday. Stay safe and warm

(31,261 posts)Trees have formed their "starter" buds for new leaves and the oaks are doing the final shedding of old leaves. In about 3 weeks, the beautiful mint colored new leaves will be peaking out. My favorite time of year.
You thought it was cold today? To me it was pleasant, I spent the whole day in shortsleeves, even when going outside.
