Here's my theory of why little Lindsay has made such an abrupt and (hypocritical) turn. Lindsay and McCain were like brothers (with a big crush). Lindsay "borrowed" from McCain's valor and hunkered down under his big wing. When McCain died, Lindsay was left in the lurch and was grieving the loss of his other half in a completely unacknowledged way. His unaknowledged (and un-dealt with) grief is what we're watching in his glomming on to the Orange Menace.

(25,487 posts)Where my guess is that Trump let Lindsey know exactly what information David Pecker and the National Enquirer had on Lindsey and his sexuality.
Ever since then, Lindsey has been a Trump lap dog.

(9,696 posts)That's just a stupid idea, based on the disreguard people in America have for unmarried people.
There are plenty other issues in lindsay graham's life. Also, he's from the south, Barney Frank is from a much more progressive state.

(8,380 posts)I think there's compromising information that Trump told him that's damaging. In this day and age, most voters really don't care about people's sexuality.

(63,845 posts)this information is out there. And we can see how Graham has taken millions of course he is covering his ass and this so called fake pResident. Yuk, I don't even like equating tRump and presidency.

(42,862 posts)His very Genteel Southern Gentleman ways are a mismatch for the "tough-guy" he's trying to be. It's rather comical to see him try to pull it off. At this point in his career, I'm amazed that anyone takes him seriously. He's just a featherweight clown.

(63,221 posts)The tough guy act is so not him. It's so out of character and so foolish looking when he behaves that way. It's like "Lindsey, nobody is buying it, so cut the crap." He must really be afraid of something to be going so overboard.

(42,862 posts)His delicate mannerisms, slow cadence and smooth voice/accent don't work as well (or sound as believable) as it would coming from a Joe Pesci or Robert DeNiro type of character. (And simply shouting or talking louder doesn't really help.) He's a complete joke!

(14,145 posts).... and Lindsey has transitioned to a Putin/trDump/Russian treasonous lapdog so the dirt they found remains a secret.
They won't tell if Lindsey barks the proper tune and dances to the right songs.

(58,785 posts)judgement -- that part is established. He might easily have emotional/personality issues giving rise to them, however; they're far from uncommon. Noting, though, that his more outrageous behaviors were predictably very well received by the Republican base, and very likely agreed on with and rewarded by stringpullers in the shadows.
Not proven is my suspicion that, like others who've cast their lots with trumpism, he is attempting to avoid consequences for some serious misdeeds.
In both cases it looks like he is working to come out of this giant power struggle on the "winning" side with power and wealth. No matter what he has to do.
