Every time I see and listen to Abrams speak I become more and more convinced that she can be truly special, maybe even a transformational figure in politics. The problem is that she's from a state that's not exactly friendly to Democrats. I'm not trying to knock Georgia, and I know it's trending from red to pink/purple, but do we really want her to risk her political career on an uphill challenge in 2020 against an incumbent Republican Senator in a Republican state? And I'm not saying that two losses in successive cycles would be a career killer, but it wouldn't be great. On the flip side, I'm also not sure a stint in the Georgia legislature is enough experience to back up a run at the Presidency, notwithstanding its current occupant.
Feel free to flame away as I'd love to be convinced that I'm overthinking this. I have similar thoughts with respect to Beto. If either of them were from even a marginally blue state, they would have as bright a future as any politician in the country.

Aside from changing states, you have to be able to move up through your state or DC.
