On Thursday night, Fox News host Laura Ingraham suggested that the media is only covering the Coast Guard lieutenant who plotted to kill Democrats because its a convenient distraction from Jussie Smollett‘s legal troubles.

The remarks came during a portion of Ingraham’s show where she commented that the Democratic platform is about selling “victimhood,” and nothing else as far as substantial political arguments. Ingraham presented this as a trend among Democrats and the media to use “fabricated tales of victimization to divert attention from other inconvenient truths.”

“It was Smollett who crashed in and took the focus off Virginia governor Ralph ‘Blackface’ Northam, and his lieutenant governor Justin Fairfax, who’s accused by two women of sexual abuse. Boy, that Virginia story faded fast, didn’t it? And now the Smollett anti-Trump drama has blown up, the media has jumped on the story of that whack-job Coast Guard lieutenant who wanted to murder Democrat politicians…This is so predictable, it’s almost boring.”

Christopher Hasson was taken into custody this week after officials found that the Coast Guard lieutenant was stockpiling weapons and planned a killing spree against Democrats and media figures. The story has been one of the leading news developments over the last few days, and Smollett’s suspected falsification of a politically-charged hate crime against himself has also drawn headlines throughout the week.

Ingraham continued her segment by saying “the media has no time” to cover instances when conservatives are “truly victimized,” such as the Congressional Baseball Shooting that put Steve Scalise (R-LA) in the hospital. This ignores the fact that the shooting dominated the media cycle for days, drawing massive bipartisan condemnation and calls to stop political polarization.

doesn't listen to NPR because Smollett case has been front and center last couple of days.

As she sensationalizes what the truth actually is. What she does is the same as Sean Hannity, makes her show more of a Tabloid rag.

As I recall, the media covered the shooting of Steve Scalise's pretty thoroughly and there was condemnation plenty about that. Ingraham is on the wrong side of this, which is what she is being paid for.....spreading B.S.

Ingrraham and her ilk have created a toxic culture of hate by exploiting the fears of white conservatives for years now, and the result is people like this neo-nazi who was planning mass murder.
