Has there been an investigation into how Trump enthusiasts....
.... deal with his assault on the truth? Note that I said "enthusiasts." That's the real puzzle for me. I expect that some significant number of Trump voters just hold their noses and vote Republican or choose "Trump" in a poll because the alternatives are to Democratic.
I'd be interested to know what you DUers think, but I'm most interested in finding out if anyone has studied this.... podcast, book, article.
Of course you're welcome to reply "they're stupid," or variations on that theme, but I'm looking for a study. If that's the conclusion, based on fact, so be it.
Here are the possibilities I've come up with:
They're stupid.
They just skip over the lies and don't think about it, preferring to wallow in the ideology.
They treat them as theater. Attention getters, that's all.
They affirm them as a way to stick it to the establishment that they want to tear down.
