Today they are running two more chicken s**t stories about Klobuchar ...
They know she is extremely popular in her home state and is quite likely to beat Trump...
What gives? Why are they trying to kneecap her?
Methinks they have an agenda. Done with them.

(7,142 posts)Tucker Carlson had on a person who just got back from Davos. The person lashed out at the rich people at Davos for not paying their fair share in taxes to help combat climate change. He called them all phonies at Davos.
Tucker got the guy to tape a segment for his show, he was going to really embarrass this guy. Right away the guy who I can't remember his name got Tucker riled up. Tucker asked him if he thought that Rupert Murdoch dictated his shows? The guy calmly said no, it doesn't work that way. He said that Tucker and the rest of the anchors on Fox are all made millionaires by a billionaire. That cause Tucker to scream fuck you at the guy. The man calmly stated that he guessed that Tucker wasn't going to air his taping and Tucker agreed with him. Tucker didn't realize that the guy did his own taping of the segment. It is probably available on the internet if you are keen enough to find it.
The guy hit the nail on the head, a billionaire (Rupert Murdoch) makes his newscasters millionaires so that they spew the rich guy/oligarch agenda. I think it was on Chris Hayes last night.

Same as Franken.

Same MO as the Franken rumors, make the incident long enough ago that it cant be disproved.

(18,837 posts)Of course, the rot had set in long before that, but right around the time of the change, it became worthless.
The "new site design" was crap, but that's only the window dressing.
Back in the "Huffington Post" days, I used to post quite a bit of their content here.
Since "HuffPost," I never check the site daily, and have perhaps posted their content 2 or 3 times in the last year, and it's only because I stumbled across it while doing a search for something else on Google.

(17,984 posts)Do you think Slate is much better? I remember the days of Michael Kinsley and Dahlia Luftwick.
I have seen Dahlia on a couple of cable shows. Think she is still with Slate. That was a great era!

(18,837 posts)...about as often as Salon, when I see their content linked from somewhere else.
These days I lean more toward Washington Post and New York Times. The problem with so many of these sites is that since the White House is regularly leaking fake news (so that the outlets can pick it up, then once it is printed, they scream "fake news" I have come to rely less and less on sites I used to frequent.
I also get much of my news from a small handful of journalists I trust on Twitter, like Kyle Griffin and Aaron Rupar. I can't remember a time when they missed the mark with something that wasn't accurate.
I'd say at this point that Slate is probably a better source than HuffPost, though.
True Blue American
(17,984 posts)But they do have some very good, even handed articles.
It is hard to find unbiased news, but Slate is better than the others.

(38,958 posts)They are part of the Infotainment media, dont really consider them to be a reliable source of information. Its possible that they brush up against journalism once in awhile, but its mosty what ifs and opinion.

(7,142 posts)The M$M is owned by oligarchs, of course they want to make money, but that isn't their #1 goal. The goal of the corporate controlled right wing M$M is to disseminate propaganda. The goal of the M$M will be to call whoever the Democratic candidate for president will be, a Socialist. Pushing the narrative, pushing talking points that benefit the oligarchs and gets common people to vote against their own best interests is the primary goal over making money.
It is a serious business with the oligarch owners of the M$M, they aren't in the business to entertain people to get clicks to make money, they are in the business to keep the working men and women dumbed down.
NPR used to be a good source for information but the oligarchs have infested it also. The 3 major cable news networks all push the right wing agenda, none of them are liberal.

(38,958 posts)It is still all about money 💰.

(1,779 posts)on accurate, but that is unfortunately mixed with a deluge of whatever headline will pull in the most views and clicks.
Unfortunately, we don't have "news" anymore, we have businesses operating with a primary goal of revenue generation. Some are far worse, but most are completely unreliable and have lost sight of their purpose.

Boy, do I sound like Trump now? But since the push to the lie of an Iraq war it is clear most of them are not on our side. MSNBC fired Phil Donahue for telling the truth. Of course hey gave us Trump, too.

(7,142 posts)for telling the truth. If my memory serves me, he would argue with Tweety about invading Iraq. Nevertheless, msnbc chose Tweety over Donahue.
msnbc has fired a lot of people for telling the truth; Donahue, Olbermann, Uygur, Brashear, Harris/Perry, Schultz, Dylan Ratigan one of my favorites was exposing crony capitalism, I miss him.

(17,984 posts)Would pour money into a cable station. current was really good until Gore sold it to Aljazeera.
Ali Vichy had left a cushy job on CNN because he wanted to do true stories. MSNBC seems to be allowing him to that that. My favorite show.

(17,984 posts)Being fair. All day coverage about Smollett, who is on a cable station called CLEO. I was surfing last might, found Empire. Never heard of it, but the White Nationalist wanting to kill Democratic Congress people is not aired at all.
For myself, I have pretty much given up on cable. Prefer other sources.

(94,534 posts)Celebrity stories WILL get coverage because they bring in an audience. If you disagree with that philosophy, go to work for the news media and try to change the editorial decisions.
nb - EMPIRE is a network (Fox) TV show; it's not some obscure program that the news media is obsessing over to hide other stories.
True Blue American
(17,984 posts)Because with hundreds of chanels I do not watch Fox.
I did watch the show last night and it is a shame because he is entertaining, a great singer. You have to wonder what went through his mind to do something so dumb.
Also many others never heard of Smollet before the wall to wall coverage.
To me a person threatening to kill all the Democratic Leaders in Congress is more important.

Domestic right wing oligarchs are just as bad as foreign oligarchs polluting our social media. They made the mention of the name Nancy Pelosi a dirty word/words. I had to laugh, they attack people they fear. I ask my right wing friends why is Nancy Pelosi bad, and they have no answer. Nancy Pelosi is one of the best Speakers in our history. I wasn't worried in the least that she wouldn't get the job again. It was the right that was trying to make it a controversy whether Pelosi would be appointed Speaker. I never doubted for a minute because she is good at her job and the right fears her.
I feel the need to also mention this, the right fears AOC.

Even if we have a candidate we prefer we should think twice about saying anything super negative about the others as it will easily get picked up and used against us.
Its getting hard where to go for news these days because all of them seem to have a slant against something.
