Oral legal arguments Tuesday over Memphis Confederate statues

Tuesday, a three-judge panel in Nashville will hear arguments about Memphis removal of Confederate statues in December 2017.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans are appealing how the Memphis city council found a legal loophole and sold two parks to a non-profit, Memphis Greenspace, Inc. That allowed crews to take down the statues of slave trader and Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and Confederate President Jefferson Davis.
The court of appeals ruling later this year could go a long away in determining whether the statues will be gone for good, or possibly return by court order.
The state comptrollers office last February and a Davidson County chancery judge last May ruled the city of Memphis legally sold the parks and removed the Confederate statues ...
