The most important social issue our next Democratic president should tackle is...

For me, legalizing millions of immigrants who have helped move this country forward and are being victimized by government, and revamping the immigration system to make it more efficient and easier for good people to come here.

What about you? What do you think?

not be the most popular one--but I am increasingly thinking that in order to set our country aright, we need to address our original national sins: slavery and the theft of land, lives, culture and freedom of Native Americans. I don't even know what justice would look like at this point, but I think we need to begin the process of figuring that out to reverse the legacy of these two acts of genocide. That does not mean that I do not think we should be establishing policies--e.g., healthcare for all--that benefit everyone. But even as we work to reduce inequality, I don't think we should allow Native Americans and the descendants of slaves to remain disproportionately at the bottom of the heirarchy of wealth and power.

Sometimes social and economic despair seems a blurred line for me. In that case, i would have to concur with the OP. My first priorities go to ending all suffering created by bad policy and/or public and governmental apathy.
