current sad state of journalism.
While it is generally agreed and loudly bemoaned that "the media" aided and abetted candidate Trump from the "git go", we see that conduct being continued even by those who admit their prior complicity.
This is a paraphrase, but Bartcop warned: "When someone 'makes a mistake' and that mistake puts money in their pocket, expect them to make that same 'mistake' again and again."
Prescience personified.

(827 posts)...and seeing his actual name online, I found out that he and I went to the same high school. Doing a little more digging I learned that at one time he and I lived just a few city blocks apart. He was a couple of years older than me, but we were in the school at the same time for two years.
That school was just big enough that, two years apart, I have no recollection of him back then.
I really miss old Bartcop. He basically brought me into the liberal blogosphere. I remember the sentence you quoted. He repeated that one all the time...
And I have quoted it as well.

(4,310 posts)I lost count of the times his pages helped me through another mad week of dealing with the Cheney and dummy Administration's lies and machinations.
If he was still around today, The Groper Administration would have destroyed his liver twice over.

(5 posts)Bartcop would be pleased that Laura Ingraham has lost most of her advertisers. See there is progress. I still remember the nude photo of Laura Ingraham he posted periodically. Yes, money helps them repeatedly make stupid decisions. He was a liberal with a gun and lived a good life drinking his tequila from his tequila treehouse. It's been too long. I typically check the site out every now and then for inspiration.

(5,914 posts)He had a terrific sense of humor and he was so, so very wise. In addition to your Bartcop's rule, he also said that if someone's livelihood depended on them not understanding a simple basic concept of science, they will never understand that concept, regardless of how you try to explain it to them.

All the rage fake and genuine, pitting American against American, leaving no common ground whatsoever stoked by the media, 90% of which boosts the fascist coup by Trumpists.
