..........Howard Dean was so firmly in the lead that the media was talking about the race as if it was already over. I distinctly remember in late December, when Saddam Hussein was captured, the media actually sought out Howard for comment, calling him, "the presumptive Democratic nominee." Two months later, he finished THIRD in Iowa.

They had given Dean a press plane in June while Kerry’s campaign press corps travelled in a van.

Coincidentally, Kerry in June 2013 submitted a Senate Resolution opposing the Bush Admin FCC’s loosening of ownership restrictions for the major media corporations that allowed them to expand even further.

Perhaps even more relevant to the point, Obama did not start consistently leading in the polls until a year later in early 2008.

Time will tell. The field will clear. Strength will rise and irrelevancy will fade.

I have my favorites but I am listening to everyone. I want to see the process play out.

that everybody thought Mario Cuomo was going to get into the race for the Democratic nomination and run away with it?

And, then later the 7 Democratic candidates in the race for president in 1992 were called the 7 Dwarves because nobody stood a chance against the Giant figure of the heroic war president George HW Bush, who just swept Saddam out of Kuwait and had a hugely positive approval rating, even with Democrats. Some dude named Bill Clinton emerged out of that field and did pretty well in the general election.

And especially in this extra-turbulent time.
I'm trying hard (not always succeeding, but at least trying) to abide by the mantra, "Let the process play out."
