Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., accused the GOP of having a hostage situation where Republicans shy away from speaking against President Trump.
In the Republican Party, theres a hostage situation going on, Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. There are a lot of Republicans that know what the right thing to do is not just on impeachment but on a wide range of issues and they refuse to speak up.
Ocasio-Cortez said it was unacceptable for Republicans to not challenge Trump, and said there was no question she would vote to impeach Trump.
Although Ocasio-Cortez said she understood that some lawmakers come from districts where their constituents are divided on the matter, she said it was an easy choice for her district and that everyone wants to impeach Trump.

I don't always agree with her but she's spot on in this case.

(4,723 posts)They've been building up to Trump since Goldwater ran over half a century ago now. The Republican party has not only moved either and further to the right, it's members have become hateful, mean assholes.
They've been courting racist, xenophobic, homophobic, greedy deplorables for decades. They've don't so by playing on said deplorables' fear off anyone different from them, convincing them that anyone not just like them are coming to knock them off the top of the the American social pyramid. Decades of right wing hate radio and FAUX have cemented this in deplorable minds. Donald Trump is exactly the kind of leader I would expect from that cesspool.
