From a NBC/WSJ poll. Why? This guy is the biggest fool alive! I just don't get it! He is a moron, liar, cheat, fake and all the other words to describe him. If this was any other president, with all the scandals and other issues, they would have carried that president out in a straight jacket. Why this president(so-called and fake) can be allowed to get away with all the B.S.? I will never understand!

(82,849 posts)Two hour speech with live coverage for those who could stomach it. He got a coverage bounce for hugging a flag and being cheered wildly by a bunch of yahoos. That bounce was a whopping 3% and will be gone like the dew on a summer morning.

(12,344 posts)Most people are embarrassed when caught lying, Trump isn't he just lies more. People have a hard time believing someone could lie lack that, so they don't realize how much of a radical liar he is, they call it, "fighting back."

(35,328 posts)this New Green Deal or the way Faux is interpreting it.
I had an argument with a guy that said he used to be a Democrat. He was saying they lost him because they are now socialists. I couldn't get through to him that SS,
Medicare and the VA is socialism. These people through decades of Republican BS only consider the things lthey can't take advantage of as socialism. They have told
the NGD will outlaw airplanes and even meat. I agree with one thing Trump says America will never be socialist. Not like other countries that have government health care. There is too much money involved with insurance to change this system.

Nothing goes straight to their rotten little hearts like meat. Lots and lots of meat.

(35,328 posts)will never win the swing states campaigning on national health care and eliminating fossil fuels. The natural gas industry has become huge in Ohio, PA and West Virginia in the last few years and now we have people wanting to shut it down.
The gas industry is building a $5 billion cracker plant in PA now and there is a $10 billion plant proposed in Ohio.
They say it will be the biggest construction progect ever in Ohio.

(36,461 posts)& they claim that almost every dem policy is socialism. Their listeners have been fully brainwashed. The dems/left ignored hate radio & here we are 40 years later paying the price, but we still ignore it.

(1,588 posts)As long as the Republicans can stick SOCIALIST on the left, we will always lose that 50% that don't know any better. Fascism won't stick to Republicans for some reason, but because Bernie and OAC willingly accept the SOCIALIST tag, it's sticking to Democrats. That's the way it's going to be to the under-educated. There is no reasoning with them. You will not convince them otherwise. I was one of them that was taught in grade school that socialism = communism = BAD. I however was able to research and reason for myself and saw the benefits of all social economic systems.
The right has Faux News hammering the extreme of the Green Deal 24/7 exaggerating it beyond reason. CNN and MSNBC only report that people are freaking out about the exaggeration. People don't get the facts. Extremism is bad. It freaks people out.

Another article interviewing RWers, therefore, the Democratic Party is in deep doo doo.
It will not stop. Democrats need to stick together and make sure Republicans don't steal future elections.

(5,557 posts)Trump talks down climate change, and his supporters love it because they desperately want to pretend it doesn't exist.
When Trump attacks the media they love it, because they desperately don't want to believe the truth about the direction America is going.
They want to live in an 'American' monoculture, so they love it when Trump attacks multiculturalism and antagonizes world leaders.

(14,565 posts)Any comparison to that is a win. The shock value is essentially gone. As long as their daily lives aren't obviously falling apart, Americans are steadily acclimated to a president who lies all the time.
If Trump avoids anything similar to Charlottesville, his approval rating will continue to find the higher tier. The tier was 38%, then established at 40%, now 42% on 538, and I think the foundational tier will eventually reach 44% or above on 538, either later this year or early in 2020.
I don't want any of this to happen but as a gambler I have predicted it every step of the way. The public has immense benefit of a doubt to that incumbent whose party has been in power only one term. Hispanics are unusually loyal to the incumbent. I was mentioning that last fall, that Trump's approval would rise among Hispanics, long before any polling or articles indicated as much.
Long term situational influence is always the key to understanding and forecasting. If someone wastes times listening to Trump every day, then no kidding they will be flabbergasted that his approval could actually go up.
