According to Reuters, Purdue is considering bankruptcy to halt thousands of lawsuits and allow the company to settle with the plaintiffs out of court.
Critics on social media slammed the manufacturer for apparently seeking a way out of its legal troubles without allowing its accusers to bring their cases to trial.

Borrow money to attend college? That debt cannot be escaped in bankruptcy.
Corporate officers engineer an opiod crisis? No problem!! Just declare bankruptcy.
A better idea would be to liquidate the company and put the assets in a trust fund for the victims.

But I'd still like to see a few of the folks who profited so nicely from Purdue Pharma's deadly propaganda relieved of their assets and their liberty to move about freely except in the confines of their prison cell.
