Let's Ignore the Elephant in the Room, GOP

It’s a massive, overwhelming elephant – being your “pResident’s” obvious corruption and criminal activity. But just for now, let’s pretend it isn’t there.

Even if we ignore the obvious, the question still remains: Why would any politician defend, protect, support and enable a man like Donald Trump – especially in light of the fact that doing so is causing your party to lose not only some of your own well-respected spokes-people, but the voters who are walking away from your party?

What I don’t understand is why you’ve decided that Trump is the hill you are willing to die on, and why you are willing to throw away the carefully-crafted image you have spent decades promoting.

So leaving aside the elephant – being the corruption that is being exposed on a daily basis, i.e. evidence of obstruction of justice, collusion with our enemies, violation of campaign finance laws, perjury, etc. – let’s go through the short list of exactly who you are willing to take a political bullet for:

A man dumb enough to believe that stealth bombers are literally invisible, and using wind power means your electricity shuts off when the wind dies down.

A man stupid enough to declare a national emergency with the words “I actually didn’t have to do this”.

A man oblivious enough to lie about things everyone knows he’s lying about.

A man ridiculous enough to tweet incomprehensible, mis-spelled, grammatically incorrect nonsense that a ten-year-old would be embarrassed to have composed.

A man insane enough to ramble on endlessly like a dementia sufferer while claiming to be a “stable genius”.

A man childish enough to make up derogatory nicknames for his perceived enemies.

A man unhinged enough to publicly declare that he and Kim Jung-Un are “in love”.

A man self-absorbed enough to actually believe his own obvious bullshit.

A man self-serving enough to use his position to flog cheap merchandise associated with the office of the presidency – and pocket the money generated.

A man corrupt enough to have racked-up over eight thousand misleading and/or false statements over a period of just two years.

A man idiotic enough to insist that he never said what millions have heard him say in statements and speeches that are readily available for all to see and hear.

A man stupid enough to appoint corrupt cronies to powerful positions in the belief that no one would notice when their corruption was inevitably exposed.

A man delusional enough to call himself a world expert on things he continually demonstrates he knows nothing about.

Really, GOP? This is the man you’re pinning your party’s future on? This is the man you’re ready to support, even if it means throwing your own country – and every principle it stands for – under the bus? This is the man you have chosen to stand with, come what may – even when what’s coming is a shitstorm that threatens our very democracy?

All that’s left to say is the obvious. You’ve put all your eggs in the basket of deplorables – which is the place where political power, political aspirations, and political survival go to die.

I don't know what the Hell he is but definitely not "a man" (not even a stupid, crazy, greedy, lazy one). I doubt he is even human.... possibly he is reptilian

Watergate got covered up pretty quickly, and turbulent economic inflation paved the way for ReaganHood. The base, and the automatic 'cons [50+% 'cons were loyal to tricky dick until the day he resigned] are stubborn].

This time, however, endless trump litigation, and the treason aspect especially, should hinder the rebrand makeover.

You left that out.

Treating a group of people as "a disease" isn't something that progressives do, BTW.

I'm always skeptical of "simple answers" to very complex issues.

They do it through fear, either "they" are going to take something from you, or "they" are coming to get you and your family. It's what allows the followers to turn a blind eye to such monumental hypocrisy, intolerable cruelty, and blatant ignorance.

Like a radical fundamentalist religious person. Which coincidentally, many of them are. The mind is ripe for authoritarian snake oil salesmen.

Its like if you made a list for Christian fundies, on the many contradictions in the Bible. example: one part tells you to slay your enemies, rape their women, kill their children. Another tells you to love your enemies and turn the other cheek. Or lord help you if you say anything odd about the Christ Himself.

It won't matter because of a mob conditioning and mentality that millions of other Christians, and pastors, can't all be wrong. And there are sadly enough deplorables to tilt the balance into enough of them to make this mob mentality a reality, and being bolstered by RW hate media on a daily basis to confirm their worst suspicions. They are like their real church.

For those, republicans will revel in any squalor, endure any humiliation, break any promise, abrogate any oath, and betray anything and everything good that this country used to stand for.

That's all.

Nothing else.

St. Ronald of Santa Barbara told them nothing else matters.

the greedy rich, who care only about their obscene accumulation of wealth, at the expense of everyone else (and the wannabees who aspire to be the same),

the hate-filled bigots, who couldn't stand that there was a ni**er in the White House, nor any person of color, who represents their shrinking hold on "white" America (they want to TAKE BACK AMERICA), nor could they stand that two of the same sex could love one another,

the hypocritical "so-called christians" who, let's face it, think that you should be a virgin until you marry (otherwise you will NEVER have sex), and accepted sex can ONLY be between a husband and wife married to each other (where the sex doesn't have to be consensual) and all gays should be stoned to death, and think that the lying, pussy-grabbing fascist dictator wannabee turdface is EXACTLY what their god ordered to bring about the end of times, when their god will throw out all his commandments and allow their sorry, pathetic asses to soil the streets of gold...

grrrrr....

don't get me started...
