Soledad O'Brien scorches CNN for booking Trump flacks to say 'crazy stuff' for ratings

Responding to a tweet from CNN media analyst Brian Stelter saying he was “gobsmacked” by a CNN discussion over a comment made by Trump 2020 spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany, former CNN and MSNBC contributor Soledad O’Brien called him out, saying inviting guests on to say outrageous things is part of the network’s strategy.

“Brian’s boss Zucker on McEneny. GQ/April 2017,” O’Brien began in a multi-tweet response on Twitter. “She’s a character ‘in a drama’ “Everybody says, ‘Oh, I can’t believe you have Jeffrey Lord or Kayleigh McEnany,’ but you know what? Zucker told me with some satisfaction. ‘They know who Jeffrey Lord and Kayleigh McEnany are’.”

“So—I don’t think you’re ‘gobsmacked,'” she lectured. “In fact, I think if Kayleigh still worked for CNN, as a paid contributor, you would book her for your show ‘to discuss thoughtfully her latest statements’, crazy as they are. Remember-Jeff Lord stayed employed til he tweeted the nazi slogan.”

I'm sick of hearing their lies and distractions , and turn the channel now whenever they show , or others and they start speaking . The media are helping him and others spread the propaganda trump spews out. The media have been his biggest enablers doing this to us.

He's admitted as much. And look at who they just hired to run their 2020 coverage. CNN gives a platform to peddlers of disinformation for ratings. The network may be a target for Trump, but the enemy of your enemy is not always your friend. Glad Soledad is calling out Stelter and his faux consternation.

With all the time on all the different cable and broadcast channels available, the American people actually end up being less informed about the issues of the day. I'm not sure how the media accomplished this feat, but it's pretty goddam impressive how they've set up a system of information black holes that suck all the comprehension out of their programming leaving poor Brian Stelter alone to pretend that he's gobsmacked by it all.
