Another one of my theories

The Democrats in the House are going “slow and extra thorough” on all their investigations so Trump’s term ends just as they impeach him but before Pence can become President. Timing is the most important factor in politics.

2. Impeachment will be inevitable after the Democrats win the Senate in 2020

Trump may not run for re-election due to too much pressure or the sure knowledge he’ll lose, or if he does run he’ll lose and the Democrats know this. Then the even worse nightmarere of Pence automatically becoming President is eliminated.

They, the other side, are the ones who are worried. They won’t even be able to steal it.

he has done. There is no rationale there. I'm not saying we can't beat Trump and take the Senate. I'm saying let's not, for even a second, think it's inevitable.

5. The Republican membership may also be in on it

It may not seem like it at times but our members of Congress, with notable exceptions we are all aware of, do think of each other as honorable colleagues.

It’s in the Republicans best interest right now not to OPENLY oppose Trump because of the 2020 elections even if they just want to hold onto their seats.

... especially with the party leadership. I believe McConnell has had it up to HERE with Chumpie-boy. McConnell is up for re-election in 2020 and there's no guarantee he'll even win this time. Also it's not likely that Chump will make any effort to help him win either. "The base," if there are any left by 2020, don't give a shit about the GOP Senators or Congressmen, even though they might still come out for Chump. It's true that the incumbent does have an advantage - but only to a point. Incumbents in recent memory have failed to win their 2nd term including Jimmy Carter and George Bush 1.

I think Chump will never realize these guys are so tired of kissing up to him, and they'll turn on him if they think it will save their own seats.

17. McConnell is another theory that's taking shape for me

He’s probably ready to retire now, but he will do what he can to get another Republican to replace him. He’s been mighty quiet since the midterms. He knows he’s toast but if he just sits back and does the minimum for Trump he can still get Trump’s base to show up in 2020 to vote for a Republican Senator. Of course he’s taking a chance, and it’s a slim one at that so he’s probably working with all kinds of donors to maximize a GOP win. I’m sure the smear machine is ready to go as well as the fluff machine for his successor. You never take chances in politics.

I love your slippery slides break dance guy!

It won’t be for long. It’s less than two years till the next election and the Democrats have the House now. They would obstruct everything he tries and so will the Justice System. He wouldn’t be able pass gas, much less anything meaningful to his Christian Right.

would heave a sigh of relief because Pence would SEEM so "normal" by comparison. Especially if their 401Ks are doing well.

I keep praying for a scathing scandal to surface, but there hasn't really ever been any stories with teeth.

Pence was Manafort’s pick for VP.

If the Democratic leadership knows of anything against Pence it makes sense they would keep it very close to the vest.
