FDA warns customers after asbestos found in Claire's makeup
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning on Tuesday against Claire's, a beauty and jewelry store for young girls, saying that the agency found asbestos in three samples of the retailer's beauty products.
"Tests confirmed the presence of asbestos in three of the product samples collected from Claires," the department said in the report. It warned customers' not to use specific batches of Claires eye shadows, compact powder and contour palette, as they tested positive for asbestos.
The agency said it specifically warned customers not to use Claire's products because the company did not issue a recall of them at the FDA's request.
Claire's said in a statement to The Hill that it is removing the products in question from its stores, but denies that they contain asbestos.
