Do Jarad and Ivanka have official Top Sectet clearances?

Or have they been granted waivers? It’s a little different to be granted a temporary waiver. I did a 6 month detail that required a Top Secret clearance. Didn’t find out I never got a clearance till I got home. I’d been working under a waiver. Of course the waiver was a temporary thing, meant to allow someone to work while the lengthy vetting process is going on. If Jarad and Ivanka are operating under a waiver it’s slightly less sketchy than Trump ordering them to be granted a full clearance. As has been pointed out Trump legally has the right to grant them clearances. But it sure appears he did so after the vetting process raised flags.

Ivanka Trump's clearance was upgraded to Top Secret at the same time as Kushner's upgrade (Kushner's clearance had been downgraded by John Kelly to "interim secret" )

as someone explained last week, they do not have the most top level clearance. There is one level above what they have and the CIA has 100% authority to grant it even in the POTUS were to "order" them to do so. I think it was Jeremy Bash that explained that Kushner does not have access to the type of intelligence that could do real harm if he was sharing it with other countries(like assessment threats, military operations, PDB, etc..). That's at least some minor comfort.

Yes, a minor comfort. I don’t think Top Secret is that big a deal. I think I read one time there are a couple million Top Secret clearance holders.
