a corrupt man like Manafort only got 47 months in prison for hiding millions of dollars from the IRS, it is equally outrageous that someone who stole $100 would be sentenced 36-72 months in prison. In the latter case, the $100 would cost the taxpayers a bloody fortune to incarcerate the thief. Surely there must be a better way to deal with such a petty crime, like repaying the money with interest and performing community service.
What a screwed up system.
