but double standards based on race is just the tip of the iceberg. Not to minimize the insult many must feel at reading this story, but this is just like one of ninety-nine problems with LEO and justice.

Still not enough for somebody who in practiced valued texting over others' lives.

She should face a real punishment: Forced to use a flip phone without a keyboard for the next 20 years, or, if they're finally phased out completely, have no text or data or facetime on her phone.

in prison - especially PoC but also whites who couldn't afford top lawyers etc - who got sentences that are out of whack with the situation.

The problem also is that many localities apply widely differing standards for similar crimes.

We need federal standards and oversight... red states are often the worst.

Dude shoots his wife (who had the nerve to suggest he shouldn't drive drunk) at her own birthday party along with two guests, flees the scene, returns to find a bunch of cops and flees again until he gets tasered... And the cops STILL managed to bring him in alive! How is that??
