College cheating scheme gets worse (used disability accommodations provisions of the SAT)

Angus Johnston ✔ @studentactivism

Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy's bribe to the guy who fixed their daughter's SAT scores was disguised as a charitable donation for "educational programs [for] disadvantaged youth." Charming. Huffman and Macy also seem to have abused the disability accommodations provisions of the SAT to facilitate their cheating—getting their daughter extra time on the test, and using that as a pretext to put in place the crooked proctor who fixed the test scores.

What I don't understand is they did this to get the kid accepted. But what happened after these kids got into college and they had to do papers, or take various tests, and show what they were made of. I would think that would've raised some red flags with these kids.

Also take into account that some kids who start college really well just can't handle the pressure or sudden freedom and just flame out. I have a nephew who was a straight A student in high schoool. He couldn't adjust to college life and dropped out.

Once in, they are probably not any more likely to crash and burn than most others. The idea that these "elite" schools are much harder is largely erroneous.

I went to a state school for my undergrad and an "elite" school for my graduate work.

I have always said there was no difference between the quality of education that you could get at both schools. The difference was that at the state school the classes were enormous and no one cared if you did well, did poorly and dropped out, or just skated by with the minimum. At the "elite" school there were small classes and much more individual attention. They were able to put more effort into helping students who were having a hard time with the subject.

colleges but better late than never. I figured colleges accepted these people because of who their parents were, I didn't know all this other stuff was going on. I wonder how much Fred Trump paid to get Cheeto Jesus in to Wharton. And then there's Jared Kushner.

I got my AA degree in Community college, which led to getting into University and going all the way to a Master's degree.
Would never have gone that far if it wasn't for supportive staff at the community college level, who showed me the possibilities.
Completely changed my life on many levels, one door opening at a time.

.

My second child is doing that right now, a county to state transfer program.

My oldest was class president in high school and went to county college, getting a deferred admission to a Seven Sister's college in Massachusetts, the school also allowed her to take county courses over the summer. She graduated after matriculating in that Seven Sister's school in 2.5 years with a double major. She paid $300 per county college class instead of $3,000 a credit at the Seven Sister's school, and also saved 1.5 years of room and board!

When my oldest went to county, her classmates laughed at her. Two years later, they tell her that they are swamped with $50-60K of debt and were only half the way through undergrad. My daughter then went to Europe for her Masters and got that in just over a year, and it cost her less than $30K, including room and board!

County colleges are the way to go.

Trump phenomenon draws attention to the worthless wealthy. As long as they were just in the background, enriching themselves and cheating on taxes, we'd ignore them. But one of their worthless rich guys gets himself ego-elected, and starts wrecking the country... too bad this Singer guy didn't have a Trump as a client. (Donnie Jr was probably his inspiration.)

surveillance very recently. I read that Felicity Huffman was on tape in October or November of 2018.

No doubt that all the Trumps, inlcuding Shitler himself and Kushner, got into college via bribery. None of them were exceptional, unless you count their exceptional willingness to commit crimes.
