Manafort must pay restitution of just over $6 Million.

Alex Wagner ✔ @alexwagner

Okay here's Judge Jackson's sentence:
Manafort gets 60 months on Count 1 (30 months concurrent with the VA sentence)
13 months on Count 2
36 months on supervised release (to run concurrent to the VA sentence)
Pay restitution of just over $6 Million

so her sentence did reflect his crimes, at least those that she had the power to sentence him for. She was not legally able to correct for Ellis' departure from the guidelines.

the lowest sentence for someone with no criminal history and offense level 14 crimes looks like 15 months, 30 for two level 14 offenses.

And she ALSO gave him credit for time served which I think is hogwash since he was put in prison for yet additional crimes so I don't see why he should have been shown any leniency at all. If I did that without all the other shit piled on top... I'd be in for life.

Total crock of poo. He won't spend five years of it behind bars.

I can only hope there will be future trials from NYS with more time piled on. That fucker has cause so much harm around the planet...

and she had to make part of the sentence concurrent with the first sentence because the underlying conduct for one of the conspiracy counts was the same as the bank and tax fraud scheme for which he was convicted in the VA case.

the cult of rich white guys. Affluenza plagues this nation as we are seeing with the college entrance scandal and all the other crap we have to sit here and take up the hiney because we weren't born into wealth.

I think this makes Sen. Warren look better in my book for the moment. She wants to end obscene wealth, I'm all for that. Those assholes have made my life a living hell for a long time...

He had some valuable real estate but $25 million worth of it was forfeited in the VA case, and DC just hit him for another $11 million. He also owes Oleg Deripaska $19 million. His net worth appears to be less than zero at this point.

that almost makes me feel a little better. Now I see that NYS has filed new charges so that makes me feel a little better too.

I'm just so sick of seeing rich jerks suffering little to no consequences for their crimes.

Former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who is currently serving a lengthy sentence, owes 1.5 million in restitution to the City of Detroit. Pretty clear that he has no intention of ever paying.
