*It is not immediately clear what caused Wednesday's issue. Some users reported seeing a message saying the site was down for "required maintenance," while others were able to get the social networks to briefly load before discovering that functionality was limited.
"Were aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps," a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement provided to USA TODAY. "Were working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
In a tweet at 3:03 p.m. ET the company reiterated that it is still working on a fix. Facebook also confirmed that the outage was not the result of any distributed denial of service, or DDoS, attack.'

Tech Support Pop Up scam:
Web Browsers DO NOT have the ability to determine and warn you your computer has an error. They can only warn you about a potential malicious website you are about to visit. A Browser is software that allows you to surf the Internet, not diagnose a computer or phone.
How would the pop up message know who to call unless the number was put there by the scammers who created the pop up?
Most popups are generated from an Ad on an unsuspecting website and you can just close the tab/window. If it will not close or opens new windows/tabs, try editing the address bar {put Google.com} and hit enter or you can End Task the Browser {Ctrl+Shift+Esc}.
They can be removed by clearing the Cache and History after restarting the Browser. You should also have an Ad Blocker turned on. If your Browser doesn't have one built-in, you might look to see if it supports a Browser Extension Ad Blocker.
If that didn't work and your still getting pop ups, you might have a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) that triggers a popup window.
You can goto https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ and get the free trial to remove it or you can try this site to help remove the PUP:
https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-tech-support-scam-popups/
Beware of websites claiming "Remove 'this number' pop up virus", as many are downloads for adware cleaners or malware. Only trust reputable Malware/Anti-Virus sites that use Official products from the Official website.
Help spread the word and prevent someone from becoming a victim.
Fact:
ANYONE who calls or emails you and says your computer called/contacted them is a SCAMMER.
ANYONE who calls or emails you and says your online server called/contacted them is a SCAMMER.
Windows Operating System licenses do not expire.
ANYONE who calls or emails you with a message about your computer having illegal activity, is a SCAMMER.
Apple will never, ever call you about alleged suspicious iCloud activity.
ANY Tech Support Warning pop-ups you get while accessing the internet asking you to call a number or visit a website, is from a SCAMMER.
Web Browsers DO NOT have the ability to determine and warn you your computer has an error. They can only warn you about a potential malicious website. A Browser is software that allows you to surf the Internet, not diagnose a computer or phone.
ANY Tech Support company that insists you need their services because of some error, outdated software or tries to convince you that you need to allow them remote access is a SCAMMER.
Nobody could possibly know if your computer or devices have an issue unless you tell them or gave them access.
Tech Support companies DO NOT call or email to give out refunds because they are "going out of business", or to "cancel a subscription". Companies DO NOT give refunds unless they have to.
Companies DO NOT call to inform you that your subscription will be charged if you don't call back, only SCAMMERS do that. If you have a subscription with someone, they automatically charge you until you cancel it and they don't give a refund.
Only a Scammer would want Remote Access to give a Refund.
3rd party Tech services DO NOT include Email account repairing or password resetting, since they can not access the email server unless it belongs to them.
Please read about how Tech Support Scammers operate the scams and warn everyone possible about them.

Never trust a caller who wants to "help your computer" for any reason (unless you contacted them first), as they are only going to scam you. If you need Tech Support, you should contact a reputable local service.
