We used to play trivia with her at a local pub...obviously she was a bit of an asset! Talking redneck SW, PA. Let's hear it for public schools and her parents did not have to bribe anyone for her to get into Columbia!

(26,660 posts)I had a friend who got on the show in the late 60s with Art Fleming. Ive never forgotten the final jeopardy question that she missed and used it many times playing trivia. Her total was around $180.

i learned from this how to get on a game show-
what they look for is the little stories that they tell when they introduce you. my sister had a lulu- the old chatty cathy doll was named after her. srsly.

Fortunately, I saw the $20k second night win.
She didn't seem like a redneck, just a very nice Pittsburgh girl. And very smart.

You must be so proud! All I caught tonight was the Final Jeopardy question.

(2,195 posts)He scored high enough on the online to test to be invited to Los Angeles for an audition. The audition entailed another computer based test, interviews and some mock Jeopardy rounds. Once they establish that you are pretty intelligent then they are more interested in determining if you have stage presence and wont fall apart during an actual game. He felt he did fairly well. Now it is waiting game. All they say is within 18 months you may get the call for an actual show and if not you can redo the whole process. You only get to be on Jeopardy once in your lifetime so he is OK with the idea of not making this go around. He is under 30 and told him he may be better off later after he has absorbed more trivia that us Baby Boomers grew up with.
