Gallup Poll: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Well-Known But Mostly Disliked Across the Country

by Julio Rosas | Mar 15th, 2019, 10:37 am

In a new Gallup Poll released on Friday, they found that while freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has tremendous name recognition, her “image skews negative.”

Gallup reports “half of U.S. adults were unfamiliar with or had no opinion of her in September” after her upset primary win against incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley. Now two months into office, only 29 percent of people say they do not know who she is.

31 percent of those polled said they had a favorable view of Ocasio-Cortez, while 41 percent said they had an unfavorable view of her.

Her polling was abysmal among men, white people, and people aged 55 and older. Her best polling was unsurprisingly among Democrats and minorities.

In 2012 they had Romney winning. They put in bad data into their formula.

Polls are used by the right to control the narrative.

White. Check.

Man. Check.

Over 55. Check.

I think she's great and hope I'm still around when she runs for president.

"The people" want what they're familiar with - old white guys who tell them what they want to hear. They don't care if that old white guy is smart. He's what they know and he's what they don't have to think about. They want meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

doing its job. If the media were doing its job, Dump would have a 0% approval rating.

The 41% unfavorable rating for AOC should be reclassified as "41% of people who have been deprived of independent, fact-checked media, and are, instead, primarily under the influence of corporate "mainstream" media have been lured into disapproving of AOC."

Exactly the demographic that continues to support Trump. Actually she should be proud.

Besides, she can play the long game to her advantage.

Not. She's a Representative from a specific state. So long as her constituents are pleased with her, she'll be re-elected. That's the only poll that matters.

She's been disrespectful to the Speaker and other members of leadership

But the final straw was her trying to give advice to us African American women about building our power base.

I avoid her on cable news, don't retweet her and don't tweet or retweet anything about her positive or negative.

She's in the top 3 of democrats being smeared from the right and Trump more than anyone else has gone on the attack. If you are a republican who just heard about her, well, let's say we know how they voted. But If you are a democrat you may not yet have been convinced. So while the #s are not really good I gotta think that the remaining pool holds more people waiting to be convinced than people willing to knee-jerk reject her.

She pushes almost ALL the buttons for the majority of the people in the demographic groups in which she polled badly. They didn't need any help to hate a young, non-white female Democratic Representative from New York. I'm frankly surprised they haven't figured out a way to convince themselves she's secretly a Muslim - although I'm sure they believe she's atheist, which is just about as bad to them.
