Siding with Trump a second time will be seen as "doubling down."

This will be incurably toxic for the Republicans who were called out after the first vote.

I have my doubts. but perhaps self-interest and career preservation will win the day...if they can get over the fear of Trump's anger and being "primaried" on November 2020. At this point, they should remember last November's blue wave, and fear voters more than Individual 1.

Overriding the veto is completely up to the republicans.

They have the power here.

A few republicans can look tough on the first vote but the override vote will tell.

They want their cake and eat it too.

Make every one of those rats go on record as having voted THEMSELVES into irrelevance with respect to separation of powers as described in the US Constitution.

Then, in 2020 when we elect a Democratic President, they can reap the whirlwind.

She afforded trump an opportunity to perform a constitutional act with his veto, in a sense adding legitimacy to his emergency declaration. Better, I believe, if she had just said from the beginning that his unconstitutional declaration would be canceled in court, that she would not dignify it with an act which he could veto, and filled suit.

I think it might be important to show the Court that majority of Congress was against it. Otherwise, the WH could argue that if Congress didn't agree with it, they had an opportunity, even the duty, to prevent it.

There are some things the legislature must do. Protecting its authority, or trying to, is one of those things, I think.

.... support and defend the Constitution against ALL enemies foreign and domestic.

I have no recollection of there being any exceptions to the oath.

I don't remember being told that it was all right to ignore the oath if a member of your political party ignores the CONSTITUTION.

Or that we who took the oath owe more allegiance to a party member or a rouge party official who ignores the CONSTITUTION.

It seem fairly simple to me if you put yourself in a position where you are ignoring the CONSTITUTION you are for that reason in that instances an enemy of the Constitution.
