Support floods in for Egg Boy, the internet's new political hero

Anger had flared since Queensland senator Fraser Anning released a statement in reaction to Friday’s Christchurch massacre.

Many powerful words have been said against Anning’s hateful take on the tragedy.

However, only one Australian was brave enough to take action, that Australian was Egg Boy.

Yesterday, Anning was giving a small press conference in Moorabbin, Victoria when Egg Boy - aka 17-year-old William Connolly - calmly walked up behind the senator, whipped out his phone and cracked an egg right on Anning’s noggin’.

Since then there has been an outpouring of support for Connolly.

There’s been a GoFundMe set up to pay for Connolly’s legal fees plus “more eggs”. Despite being live for less than 24 hours, it’s already surpassed its $2000 goal by $12,000.

I don't condone violence, but this was relatively harmless. I am glad to see that young people are resisting hate and fascism everywhere.

You made the mistake and judge a man by his race
You go through life with egg on your face.

As a Boomer I can happily say the younger people are great! I have no problem supporting them and giving them the reins. I just hope they value the wisdom us Boomers still bring to life.

...and held him down. They did it too roughly and for way too long.
They seemed to enjoy it way too much, exulting as if they were
controlling a dangerous criminal.

NOT a fan here. Peaceful protest people! Verbal exchange is one thing, physical confrontation (which this young man initiated) is another. He was clearly in the wrong .. and should get no support for his actions. Period.

And, in case it is necessary (SIGH), his target is a complete ass-hat, a race baiter, and a mongrel politician who deserves no backing or (coverage).

But physical assault, no matter how gratifying .. NO.
