Judge Blocks Kentucky Fetal Heartbeat Law That Bans Abortion After 6 Weeks

A federal judge on Friday temporarily blocked a Kentucky law that prohibits abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which typically happens around six weeks into pregnancy, before many women know they are pregnant.

The measure, which was signed into law on Friday by the state’s Republican governor, Matt Bevin, and was set to take effect immediately, was poised to become one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country.

But late on Friday, the judge, David J. Hale of the Western District of Kentucky, ruled the law was potentially unconstitutional. He halted enforcement for at least 14 days to “prevent irreparable harm” until he could hold a hearing.

The ruling came amid a yearslong effort to curb abortions in Kentucky, which has one remaining abortion clinic. Several other states are considering similar measures, known as heartbeat bills, as states move to restrict — or shore up access to — abortion in anticipation of a more conservative Supreme Court possibly ruling on the issue.

It would be a lot less of an obvious bull crap position if the Republicans cared for living children with even a small fraction of the concern they have for a newly conceived fetus.
It would be a lot less of an obvious bull crap position if the Republicans cared even a small amount for women's rights when it comes to violence and/or rape as compared to the concern they have over controlling women's reproductive rights.
It would be a lot less of an obvious bull crap position if the Republicans pushed to provide funding to have the millions of outstanding rape kits processed so rapists could be identified and tried for their crimes.
It would be a lot less of an obvious bull crap position if the Republicans actually followed the teachings of Jesus. But then, they would have to have a lot more love in their hearts than they do now.
Here is a hint for the conservative Republicans:
New testament is the teachings of Jesus.
Old testament is...well, not.
New testament talks a lot about love, compassion, forgiveness, and not judging others.
Old testament contains the teachings of an angry, judgemental God...or perhaps it contains a lot of the words of a Satan who is pretending to be God.
I'm going to go with the love that Jesus speaks of.

Apparently the anti-women who pass them are complete idiots.

It always comes down to this: If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one. Otherwise, leave me alone.

What also escapes these idiots is that up to half of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion, often before the woman has any clue she was pregnant.

God, how I wish men could get pregnant.

This is only slightly related: When I was pregnant with my first child, I had pretty bad morning sickness. I remember thinking that if I had a miscarriage at this point, I don't know if I'd be willing to get pregnant again. Luckily, I didn't have a miscarriage, went on to have a wonderful baby who these days is My Son the Astronomer.

They want a SCOTUS ruling that negates Roe v Wade.

Of course they all get opposed by mainstream medical professional obstetric associations, and health policy experts. But they don't fucking care about actual expertise.

they have an opinion on reproduction that may considered in a court. Until that time, shut the fuck up with your laws about my body!

Oh, yeah, the abortion is bad-forced birth crew is evil. What IMO makes them even more evil is that after these assholes force women to give birth, they do not put some damn teeth into child support laws. They under staff the collection offices and put first year attorneys in court for the hearings. Sheesh!
