Ann Romney: 'When I tithe...I actually cry"

Exchange of the Day
Parade: How has tithing [the Mormon practice of giving 10 percent of one's income to the church] shaped your view of how we treat each other?

Ann Romney: I love tithing. When Mitt and I give that check, I actually cry.

Mitt Romney: So do I, but for a different reason.

Are they truly that much out of synch with normal human behavior?

Did they ask Mitt why HE cried? Or was that a nod to the idea that only a man can manage the family finances?

And Mitt says he cried when he learned that the Mormon church changed its views on people of color.

But I grew up in a third generation Mormon household and there are PLENTY of church faithful that can quote you chapter and verse on the whole "constitution hanging by a thread" hogwash.

You can bet Willard and Queen Ann believe it.

It makes her all weepy to see, in all her glorious narcissism, how beautifully generous she is. Why else would your own generous act towards an anonymous charity make you cry? Now if you saw someone else making a sacrifice for another living human being I could see a normal non-sociopath crying over the beauty of the act.

What's more likely however, is that she just thought up this "makes me cry" scenario in the hopes that it might make her and the machine she's married to seem more human.

They never cried and they never felt that they were especially generous, unless they gave above and beyond the tithe. They also paid their taxes. They actually read the part of the bible.where Jesus said "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and.unto God.what is God's.
