(7,539 posts)AOC has great ideas and is smart and fearless and unafraid to backclap her detractors with facts.
The response to her audacity is because Democrats don't usually do this.
Especially women, whom many of her opponents seem to should not be as aggressive about their ideas as men get a pass for.

(4,522 posts)The detractors (both gop and some dems, establishment etc) are absolutely **triggered*** by her!
The same that advocate for free speech, saying "the truth" etc are in knots about how she should shut up.
And the big thing is they are secretly questioning themselves because they cannot deny her strength and conviction - and it's just killing them!

That apparently did not go over well at the trunk plant in Lima. Newscasters said, The crowd went silent! And that is red territory.

another result of the left doing NOTHING about talk radio and letting the coordinated buzz from a few hundred lying whining fascist assholes on 1500 radio stations push the country 10-20 pts right with their unchallenged repetition

(9,865 posts)Brutal replies reflect the abject fear they have of her:
1. That she's a woman.
2. That she's progressive.
3. That she's Latina.
4. That she understands economics and how the deck is stacked.
5. That she's as media-savvy as Trump.
6. That she's young and has a long political life ahead of her.
7. That she's fearless.
8. That she's smart as a whip.
as any sucessful bartender would, she can sense the stink on anyone's sh*t the second they enter the room.

(35,764 posts)but I would add "instinct." She inherently knows how to handle the situation.
My admiration for her increased when I saw her point out to a heckler that we need to work together and that the power establishment fosters the left working against each other. She had the perfect hand gesture for that when she addressed the heckler. It was a beautiful moment and it shut them down hard and fast.

(42,862 posts)Is anything mentioned about her association with Cenk Uygur's "Justice Democrats" and the particular philosophies of that group? Is she still on the "board"? I know they scrubbed her name from the website several months ago, but do we know when (if) her role with that group has officially been terminated?

(42,862 posts)"Justice Democrats" is a PAC, right? Is is appropriate for a sitting member of congress to be on the "board" of a PAC? (And when I ask if it's appropriate, I mean both legally and ethically.)
I mean, simply scrubbing names from a website doesn't make it official, right? Aren't there actual RULES that PAC's have to follow?
Aren't there actual LEGAL and OFFICIAL procedures and processes that should have been done (if I understand things correctly) other than a superficial scrubbing and sanitizing a website's pages.

Here are yours:
"Justice Democrats" is a PAC, right? Is is appropriate for a sitting member of congress to be on the "board" of a PAC? (And when I ask if it's appropriate, I mean both legally and ethically.)
To whom are you referring when you write sitting member of congress if not the subject of the OP?
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)I've made no accusations. I'm asking a question, do you know the correct answer? Is it appropriate? Is it ethical? Is it legal?
It's unclear to me why anyone would have a problem with my asking questions. I also don't understand why anyone would want to bully me into silence.
tonedevil
(3,022 posts)of accusation. Given the OP it is disingenuous to purport that the sitting member of congress is not Rep Ocasio-Cortez. You have established that she was on the Board of a group you revile, Justice Democrats, you then go on to provocatively question the legality and morality of her doing so. It is a pretty moot point anyway it isn't as though you hide your dislike of her and everything she does.
PS
Thanks for pointing out the error in my earlier post I edited it to be a more properly formed sentence.

(55,445 posts)Yes AOC is a great story but even I'm starting to cringe at how bright her spotlight is getting... There *are* other stories just as compelling in this crop of congressional freshmen, too.
I worry that she'll fall into the Bernie trap where all the hero worship pieces about being the savior of the Dems go to her head and she gets a God complex...
