Trump struggles to gain traction with millennial voters in 2019

President Trump has struggled to gain traction among millennial voters in 2019, according to recent Hill-HarrisX polling data.

Trump's job approval rating among registered voters between the ages of 18 and 34 started off the year at 37 percent and has not broken through the 40 percent mark, dipping at one point as low as 30 percent.

The latest Hill-HarrisX survey showed the president with support from 39 percent of millennials, down from 55 percent in mid-September.

The president's struggles with younger voters took hold after the partial government shutdown began in late December amid a standoff with congressional Democrats over funding for his proposed wall.

Since the Hill-HarrisX surveys began in late July, Trump's ratings among voters 35 and older have been more stable.

All this generation stuff is bullshit. The article should say younger adults don't like Trump. GulfCoast66 Mar 2019 #4

They are part of the next generation, generation z. I find when reading stuff like this that this is a common misconception. A lot of people see the term “millennial” and think of kids - but millennials are adults! The oldest millennials are approaching their late 30s.

1977 birth dates are considered the beginning of generation Y, millennials.

18-23 would be covered by Generation Z. Regardless it's still good news, I just wish they would be a little more accurate, it's widely accepted that millennials were born between 1977 and 1995.

I don't think I've ever read anywhere about millennials being born in the 1970s. Most of the stuff I've read start them in 1981 or 82, with a few references to 1980, and end them with those born in 1995 or 96. Of course, there's some overlap at the end of one "generation" and the beginning of another. I was born in 1965, so I really don't consider myself a baby boomer. When I read desciptions of Generation X, I can see many qualities that I have from that generation, so it's the one I identify with. Actual mileage may vary

I was born in 66. Thus my DU name. I guess I am the first year of Generation X according to the experts. But I don’t know what that is supposed to mean.

My wife is 5 years older but there is really no difference between us. Except she likes disco! Which many of my friends did as well.

The fact is the younger you are the more likely you are to be a person of color or raised in a multiracial environment. And the more likely to relate to other countries due to travel or family ties. And that is why the right is going all in on the racist bullshit to pack courts and reduce democratic voting methods. They know the window is closing and they have limited time.

They will fail. But it will get ugly.
