Brute kicks elderly woman on Bronx train; bystanders take cell phone video and don't help

https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/ny-brute-subway-elderly-attack-20190322-kku6m7fw7bdpnk25lenut5neza-story.html

Someone eventually called police and when the victim got off the train at the next stop an EMS crew was there waiting for her. She was treated for bleeding and swelling from the cuts on her face.

Outrage spilled on social media at the man behind the attack and the man behind the cell phone camera. The user who posted the video said he did not take it, but it was not clear how he obtained it.

“Why was the person taking the video and the people around him NOT WILLING TO DO SOMETHING RIGHT THEN?,” one Twitter user asked. “Don’t pull out your phone folks pull out your fists! Stand up and protect life!”

At least they took video which means the man will be identified. Unlike poor Kitty Genovese, who was stabbed to death while neighbors looked on, did nothing, not even calling the police.

Anyone jumping up to "DO SOMETHING RIGHT THEN" with such an obviously dangerous person has a good chance of winding up dead.

I wouldn't want to get in that guy's face. And nobody in NYC is permitted to have any defensive weapons.

Unless a black belt is riding on mass transit with you, nobody's going to do anything in that city. Glad I moved away from NY.

I used to live a half hour away from NYC, I hated going there, usually only at the insistence of my lady (who thinks the place is no big deal), and I'm glad I moved away.

Besides, I was responding to a post about the Kitty Genovese case, and that happened in NYC, so my response was pertinent.

You can keep all the big cities for yourself, I don't really need them anymore.

I’m 6’ 5” and would have the impulse to defend the defenseless, but how does one know if the crazy S.O.B. assailant has a junker pistol in his jacket pocket?

And NO, arming everyone is NOT a solution. Bullets zinging around in a train car? How many innocent folks would be hit (and killed) by trying to be a hero using a “2nd Amendment solution”?

It happened on a MAX train (local light rail). Two died.

All they did was object to the MAGAt's racist tirade directed at two girls.

It's easy to get outraged at the inaction, but physical altercations are best left to the professionals.

I'm not defending this guy. He should be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. However, the term "brute" is dehumanizing. There's enough racism in this country without the MSM feeding red meat to the bigots. Typical.
