My take and I may be wrong on this is I think there is/was a company who made analogue synths or components to build them called ERG.
This references back to the European Research Group, the band of tory Brexit hardliners and Euroskeptics.

It also has the added benefit of playing with Jacob Rees-Mogg name because of the Moog synthesizer which is supposed to be pronounced closer to Mohg. I'd probably be happy with just the second explanation as that was my first thought and I thought it was pretty clever but gear heads can be pretty specific.
