The Trump administration has announced a new policy that will cut the fines placed on nursing homes that abuse and endanger their residents.[1]
These reduced fines are letting the nursing home corporations get away with putting their residents in serious danger. In just one example from NPR, the Trump Administration reduced $54,600 in daily fines to a single fine of $20,965 for a New Mexico home where workers hadn't been properly disinfecting equipment to prevent infectious diseases from spreading.
NPR is reporting that the Trump administration has announced a new policy that will cut the fines placed on nursing homes that have put their residents at risk. Theyve also rolled back an Obama-era rule that had protected residents from being forced into arbitration to settle legal disputes instead of allowing their cases to see the light of day.1
According to National Public Radio (NPR):
The decrease in fines is one of the starkest examples of how, in response to industry prodding, the Trump administration is rolling back Obamas aggressive regulation of health care services.

(23,002 posts)Imagine the damage. Meanwhile, the right wing media will parse and vet D candidates as if they are recruiting for Mother Teresas job, and letting trump off the hook. We're easy targets. If we don't start really putting the boots to the gop, ....ugh. Nevermind.
He never creates anything. Just destroys, and acts like thats governing. his "list of achievements" are all wrecking what someone else pain-stakingly created.

(12,585 posts)Are they just going through the Federal Register and if a regulation was put into place by Obama, it's automatically canceled? I wouldn't be surprised. Dubya did the same thing with any regulation put into place by Clinton, all in the name of "balance." In this case there's no pretext of balance; Trump is just running roughshod over the regulatory function of government because he can.
I hope the MAGAts notice what their Fearless Leader just did to their parents.

(8,817 posts)Then Republican Governor Owens (a major "W" suck up) did the same type of thing here in Colorado when one of his MAJOR campaign donors owned 150 nursing homes and requested he "lighten up" on the already low number of State Inspectors..........
I spent three days in one of their nursing homes and it was horrific to say the least.
Owen's horrific acts included sending eleven of our twelve Military wildfire fighting helicopters to Texas because "W" wanted them to be torn down for parts needed in Iraq.....It was the worst year for wildfires in Colorado History........
He sooooo wanted a place in "W"s administration, he was doing anything and everything he could possibly do for "W" and his administration...........
Ironically, even the Republicans were wise to him and just used him, but would never let him go to Washington.....It might have had something to do with the fact that he had recently spawned TWO illegitimate children with TWO different women. His "typical Republican Wife" stood by him until she learned of his SECOND AFFAIR and bastard child.........only then did she divorce him.......
Does anyone wonder how the Republicans allow so many "pussy grabbers" in office like Trump & his cronies?????????????

(4,192 posts)Whether they know it or not. While they fight about idealogy, their policy makers and law makers set up rules that breed corruption. They are distracted by fear of socialism while the insiders pick their pockets and make lives miserable through unjust and unreasonable rules. I hope all these dyed-in-the-wool republicans get their own planet some day, far away from the rest of us, so they can experiment with their ideas on themselves and leave the rest of us out of it. In the meantime, they are going to have to put up with us.
