If anyone thinks this guy was ever a serious journalist, his tweets lately have proven otherwise.

(115,946 posts)If he had half a brain, or weren't grandstanding for the Jill Stein fans who read his rag, he'd know that a subpoena to Mueller would be a simple formality for House testimony and that Mueller himself would be in no legal jeopardy at all.

(7,447 posts)he exists to be a contrarian. To everyone. He doesn't have real principles per se, he just exists to to poke at people on all sides.
Which is a pretty meaningless existence...like a gadfly.

(28,136 posts)That I was disturbed that The Intercept and himself helped put tRump in office with all their negative Hillary coverage up until election day. I didn't cuss at him.
He wrote me back with profanities calling me a liar.

Doesn't Brazil have a RWer president who hates the LGBT? Yes, I believe so. He may be spared since he is pro-trump but what about the others?

(7,814 posts)He isn't. It's all in one of my favorite phrases: The devil is in the details.
Certainly, the charges did not include "conspiring with Russia over the election."
The charges DO include:
Rick Gates - Pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States and making false statements. Indicted by a federal grand jury as part of the Special Counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections and related matters.
Carter Page - As a foreign policy adviser in tRump's campaign, had contact with sanctioned Russian officials. A warrant was issued because of probable cause to believe that Page was a foreign agent knowingly engaging in clandestine intelligence for the Russian government (unrelated to the campaign).
Paul Manafort - Lobbied for various foreign governments (including Ukraine and Russia) without registering as an unregistered agent of a foreign principal (convicted). Many other charges such as money laundering, hiding assets and income from the US, mortgage fraud, and so on.
There are 3 Americans neck deep in the scandal. So, yeah, perhaps no single American was indicted for conspiring with Russia over the election, but they certainly were tried for other crimes that overlap with conspiracy against the US along with a myriad of financial and perjury crimes.
But - oh my goodness! They are innocent of conspiracy with Russia over the election. So far, anyway.
Take THAT, you silly Dems!

(4,611 posts)Hence why Greenwald and Breitbart are on the same page.
That said, he's largely right in this case. Mueller didn't charge any American on the core issues. Everything was either process crimes or Manafort's pre-existing stuff. No conspiracy with Russia, no obstruction to coverrup said conspiracy.
Legally speaking, this investigation was a nothingburger. All that remains is political fallout from the report.
