(3,666 posts)Will be left to the prosecutors in that matter.
Which puts the claim the Mueller will be issuing no new indictments in better context.

(32,634 posts)I'm pretty sure Mueller already got all the best stuff from Gates.
Mueller will still finish up the cases he's started, with Roger Stone, Maria Butina and others. He's going to hand off any new cases to regular US attorneys, and they will all be prosecuted. Nothing is being dropped.
Robert Mueller is almost 75 years old and he's ready to retire. He's spent most of his adult life working for Uncle Sam and he's earned a good retirement.

(3,666 posts)I assume ALL the evidence gathered in those outstanding cases in which Gates is cooperating will be turned over to new prosecutors, perhaps some of them inherited from the Special Counsel's Office, and the cases will be developed further, possibly leading to new indictments.

(22,001 posts)How could he be done with the Russia probe with Roger Stone and Maria Btina cases still ongoing???
(Not to mention the cooperation with Gates.)
I don't trust Barr.

(3,666 posts)But MANY investigations, all originally spawned by Mueller, are ongoing.
Something like 7 US Attorney offices are now involved in one aspect or another of the total Trump orbit.
Plus the counterintelligence investigation may well be ongoing.

(32,634 posts)Abramson makes it clear that Mueller will complete the cases he started, he's not leaving until next year (or later.) But he's also stepping back from any new cases because he does want to wrap this up. His commitment to the special investigation wasn't open-ended, as everyone understood it.
