And they gladly accept donations of batteries. The led lights last pretty long on one set, but a bunch are starting to go at once now, since have been in service for many months.

20. the signs are never left there

They're "switched on" and marched up onto an overpass and held by people for the duration of the action - usually an hour and a half or so. Then marched off and lights switched off. They're never left unattended. It's legal to hold signs in public spaces, which is why the cops were completely out of line last night.
