joining Democrats to fight the existential threat to the ACA, even though it is an existential threat to universal healthcare through any federal program.

Btw, "pragmatic" is agreeing to achieve less than everything when everything isn't possible or the tradeoffs required just too damaging. As in the pragmatic incrementalism of the ACA when going straight to universal wasn't possible.

THIS is a "man the ramparts" moment.
