Disney is banning smoking inside its theme parks starting May 1, the company announced Thursday. The smoking areas are disappearing inside Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks, including the water parks and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, according to a Disney blog post.
New designated smoking areas will be available outside the entrances in a move Disney hopes will help with guest flow and reduce congestion in its often crowded parks.
In addition to the new smoking rules, Disney is also placing a ban on strollers that are wider than 31 inches, a reduction from the current 36-inch limit, and stroller wagons. Disney officials said on their parks blog that many strollers on the market, including many double jogging strollers, fit within these size guidelines.
Starting March 28, loose and dry ice will also not be permitted in the parks. Reusable ice packs are recommended instead.

And while I applaud the parents out with their jogging strollers, toddlers and dogs on the trails, it would be nice if they did not take the magnitude of their gathering as a license to force the rest of us completely off the trail.
Yes, I do try to be understanding and will continue to do so, but I'm glad to see at least one major business reigning in the excess.

(26,076 posts)Also of note: starting mat 1 also no wagons allowed, stroller wagons, and wagons, etc. attached to Rascals. All of these things were a menace, and people just push strollers into people, expecting you to move.
Loose ice was just emptied/tossed on the pavement, and people were slipping. Dry ice? Probably a biohazard.
Yay!!!!!!

(12,690 posts)I really hope this will be applied to the overseas parks. I was at the HK park a few years ago and people were smoking in line to rides.

(9,173 posts)I haven't been to a Disney facility since 1962, but I used to go to the Iowa State Fair annually. The last time I was there some guy hauling his kid in a wagon nailed me in the back of my knee, and kept going as I staggered around, nearly falling. I yelled after him that I hoped I hadn't damaged his wagon with my leg. He didn't even look back.
