When your child goes to Special Olympics.. and they were going to pull the rug out from under them.. Yesterday, in Trump budget proposal.. and Today Trump is trying to sound like he is going to fund Special Olympics all by himself.. never done before..and DeVos is backtracking quicker than my beagle.. I guess that this was the thing that finally lifted the shades from their eyes..

I doubt if my acquaintance will become a Democrat.. they have gotten all the judges they want.. I guess that bridge has been crossed ..they are staying home if someone does not challenge Trump from the right..

You don't have to gloat or anything, but the next time Trump does something egregious like proposing to cut the funding for Special Olympics, remind them of the way they felt and how the people who need whatever's on the chopping block this time around are feeling. IF they're reachable (and I don't know anything about that), it may be through showing them how the capricious cruelty of the Trump administration hurts so many people - including them. And their turn may be coming around again sooner rather than later.

I know that 30-35% of folks still supporting tRumputin WILL support him no matter what for various reasons (Racism, ignorance, or both), but I mentioned not so long ago here on this forum where friends relatives/friends across the country that voted for fatso have really soured on him to the point say that they are now not going to vote for him in 2020, and are calling him a liar, and a husband/wife of a friend hopes he gets impeached And, recent not going to vote for tRumper's are my friends cousin/his wife who live in a deep red part of OHIO and who bleeds GOP red, and the last straw was that he found out that he/wife will be OWING the tax man $2,900 this year. My friend said that her cousin/the hubby said "I got thousands each year in tax returns when Obama was in office, now I OWE? Fuck tRump, fuck him!"

I was raised by a card carrying KKK member. When I was in the 7th grade, I was taken to a KKK meeting and the main "speaker" was ranting about MY English teacher....about how it was impossible for a black woman (only he didn't say that word) to teach English when they couldn't even speak it. I was, even at that age, very disturbed by this entire thing.
Living in Mobile Alabama, I have been surrounded by racism ALL my life. And yet, look at me...one of the most liberal people you will ever find.

My dad was in the KKK but... he used to rent houses and apartments. When I was a teenager, he would tell if someone called about the apartment and they sounded like a black person to tell them it had been rented. I said OK but instead I told them I didn't know and to call back later.

My parents were for George Wallace.

When I was about to go to kindergarten, my dad and my grandpa told me not to hold hands with any black kids at school. The nun who was the kindergarten teacher had to call my mom who told me they were joking. After that I became friends with the child that I originally wouldn't hold hand with and learned not to be prejudiced.
