Adam Schiff Just Shattered Trumps Hope Of Burying The Mueller Report
House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) flatly stated that Congress would get the whole Mueller report, even the redacted sections.
Schiff said during an interview with MSNBCs Rachel Maddow:
Bill Barr and his confirmation said Ill be as transparent as possible as much as the law or policy would allow, if he was true to those words, as Jerry Nadler said, he wouldnt be saying Im cutting all the grand jury material. He would be saying Congress, Im going to the court tomorrow to seek their permission to send it all to you. And Ill tell you this, the other areas he redact about classified information, we get that all the time. Information about pending investigation matters gave hundreds of thousands of pages that were both open investigation and investigation material that reflected on the privacy of third parties and if you dont think so, ask Peter Strzok or Lisa Page how they feel about that.

Trump isnt going to be able to hide the full Mueller report from the House Intelligence Committee. Trumps delusions of claiming total exoneration while hiding the evidence have been shattered. Bill Barr has carried Trumps water, but he cant keep the report from Congress. When the full report is released, it is going to expose not just Donald Trump, but the stooge behavior of Bill Barr.
Donald Trump is starting to understand that he isnt going to get away with his big Mueller report con.

(16,835 posts)They obviously don't see themselves as working for the people, never mind who paid for the investigation in the first place. That report should have been made public as soon as it was done. I can understand why they might not release certain parts of it if their were matters of national security involved, but too many times government uses national security as a shield to cover asses. I know that Trump and company were compromised, and we deserve to see the proof so we can figure out what to do about it.

(5,810 posts)Wed have already received it and would have finished reading it by now.
tRump is scared sh*tless but he has to put on his big bully act for his base. The rest of us have two brain cells to rub together and have figured out how to interpret BS when we hear it or read it. Barrs letter raised way more questions than answers. So he better gird his loins. This fight aint even half started.
Release the full, unredacted report. Pronto.

(7,142 posts)There is plenty of precedence for the Mueller report to be released to Congress, so what? Republicans will fight releasing it right up to the SC. It may be up to Robert Mueller to do a press conference because Republicans will fight Congress subpoenaing him to testify right up to the SC.

(9,090 posts)democrats can evaluate it without leaking like the nunes bunch
barr is there to either save trump or to make him think so until it's necessary to dump him (and a bunch of other cons) for short term loss to save the party/institution. or maybe barr just freaks out and gives it up without getting the go ahead. or they stall to the SC after putting someone like trey gowdy doody on and we won't see it unless mueller spills it or some patriot with access to a copy leaks it.
good to hear dems saying they will stick to the tuesday deadline. if they don't get it get barr and mueller in front of camera with one day notice
every day they stall this is another day of global warming denial

(9,426 posts)copies. What is someone "accidentally" sent a copy to the democratic committee? Someone who is sick and tired of this fiasco with tRump and the traitorous gop. Someone who really does love this country, and is tired of it being dragged into the pits of HELL. People with nothing to hide, hide nothing.

(2,227 posts)with the permission of William Barr, will NOT be the real report.
I won't trust it UNLESS it comes from somebody else.
We need to understand that this particular crisis, which could very well end the American experiment, is WAY more important that any privacy issues. Period.
We need the complete report. Unredacted. All supporting documents. Unredacted.
So what if another country finds out how we monitor them, etc.
If we don't exist as a country, any issues of privacy are completely irrelevant.

(26,242 posts)to the election because to get the report its going to take time and Trump and his people could have buried it pretty easy atleast until after the election had it been released closer to it.
Now though they do not have the luxury of a short time before the election to bury anything.

(37,648 posts)That's just my take on the kind of person he is, from things I've heard and read about him. And one of the reasons a Special Counsel is used is to take the investigation outside of political considerations.
cstanleytech
(26,242 posts)the election he could be accused of trying to tamper with it like Comey succeeded in doing.
And we all saw how Trump rewarded Comey which was probably the exact opposite of what he was expecting.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)Taking into account the timing of his conclusion related to the election. That's precisely what a political consideration is.
What Comey did was not comparable. Comey stepped outside the norm of handling an investigation to announce re-opening the investigation. Comey actually didn't yet know whether the investigation would be re-opened; he hadn't looked at the "new" evidence that had appeared. And second, the FBI didn't, as a matter of policy, make statements to the public about investigations. Totally different situation.
I don't think Mueller took anything into consideration other than he had gone as far as he could. The investigation was concluded. His job was over.

(17,981 posts)Way Schiff handled the mealy mouthed Republicans, shamed them publicly, politely
They looked like utter fools.
Ambassador McFaul was upset with the way Republicans tried to link him to the corruption, too. He said he had never been asked such questions. You will hear more from him.

(63,221 posts)I trust his judgment.
Barr, Trump and the republicans are being so obvious about having something to hide by not releasing the report, or not releasing it in it's entirety. If Trump was completely exonerated, they would make the report public, or at least release it to congress.
It's like Trump's grades or his tax returns, if there is nothing shameful or wrong, then why go through so much trouble to keep them a secret? The fact that he tries to hide and cover up so much tells us that there are a lot of skeletons in Donny's closet that he would rather never saw the light of day.

(16,730 posts)hung on to every word coming from Adam Schiff. He has no intention of letting up until ALL of what is deemed important to the American people about what Mueller found, minus protections for witnesses, etc., are released. Schiff is not playing around.
Needless to say, Adam Schiff has the Republicans on the House Intel Committee squirming. He will admonish them with eloquence as he did the other day. He will make sure that there will be no false assertions of innocence on the part of Trump on this if Trump continues to personally attack him with Tweets. There is a new Sheriff in town and his name is Adam Schiff.

(1,220 posts)But I'm just not getting into this one way or another anymore until I see it with my own eyes.
Last week they forecast a week of warm, dry weather. This week was mostly cold, cloudy and rainy. I've seen enough weather forecasts to know they're only fifty percent accurate at best.
I've seen enough of this "investigation" to come to the same conclusion.
I'll wait to see what the weather is before getting all hopeful about the forecast just to find out the weather is going to suck anyway.

... With his modern sense of public relations, he understood brilliantly that what matters, often, is less the substance of a political event than how the public perceives it. He also knew that journalists dread having to digest a long official report when writing against a tight deadline.
Every major paper received a document with a cover letter explaining that it was a "complete and authentic resume of the report". Delighted, nearly all the newspapers published the summary. Again and again it took major points in the report and "summarized" them beyond recognition.
The next few days they realized that the so-called summary had little to do with the report. ...
These slightly truncated words about a corrupt leader of a country misleading the press, is a story from the beginning of the last century, described in the very good book "King Leopold's Ghost":
