Surprisingly, the parish is not in a major metro area.

Ballotpedia showed that in the initial contest Aucoin had 45.5% while Adams had 30.8%. The remaining vote had three Democrats split the remainder of the vote. It's interesting that Aucoin couldn't gather any additional votes considering the spread in the earlier election.

almost nothing else. It has a plantation and sharecropper past, with various historic sites. A fair amount of poverty but overall is not a really poor district, and over 27% have at least some college. The Baton Rouge area seems to be within an hour for much of the district, and a lot of young PoC have moved there for jobs, but many remain. Imagine it's a nice place to live for residents with family around and decent jobs.
