https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/florida/fl-ne-meteor-florida-20190331-story.htmlSocial media was lit up by a falling meteor that lit up the skies over northern Florida on Saturday night.
The sight was so astonishing that one drivers dashboard camera captured him shouting What the f--- was that! after the blazing space rock plummeted to Earth.
Videos posted by witnesses who happened to be out driving and who had their dash cams turned on showed the meteor streaking down over the Florida sky at about 11:55 Saturday night.

OP
Relatively big meteors like that are amazing with the light, flames, and smoke.

Most awe inspiring thing I've ever seen was the recent total eclipse of the sun!

We were only an hour away from Independence, MO, where it was a perfect view also.

Meteorite: a meteor that survives its passage through the earth's atmosphere such that part of it strikes the ground.

(2,334 posts)7. That was the point. It clearly made it to ground.
I'm sure hunters are on it.

(34,169 posts)10. Yeah, the total solar eclipse was mind boggling.
I was lucky that I only had to drive 5 hours north to see it perfectly.
The solar eclipse twilight is indescribable.

It's one of those things one can never forget. Another one is coming in a few years, not sure exactly when. But we'll drive to Dallas where there's supposed to be an even more awe inspiring view.
