The times they are a Changin'

Just some rambling thoughts, from someone who has rambled.
We are experiencing the continuation of the 'Culture Wars' Change is a mighty uncomfortable thing for many people. Change is scary. Especially if you're happy with things just the way they are.

It was a choice in 2016. The choice between a 'Multicultural society' and the fantasy of going "Back to the future" Happy Days when the World wasn't moving so fast. It's a fear. The fear that you're not top of the Totem Pole. The fear equality means less of it for them. You get the picture. It's fear and resentment. It's resentment that the World is going forward and change is coming. They can kick their feet. Scream until their faces turn red. Intimidate, harm or even kill. But, the times they are a changing.

The Times They Are A-Changin' (Witmark Demo - 1963)
Bob Dylan
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

The very reason they controlled everyone who was a woman, or Black or Brown was out of fear in the first place. So now their worst fears are happening as they lose control of our rights.

I think I'm home. You don't hear this kind of music around here in Oklahoma. I was born and raised in Chicago. My son came home from school one day and had this to say. "Can you believe it Mom? They never heard of the Temptations." My kids were born and raised here. They heard plenty of good soul and a wide variety of music. Because I would play it all the time.

So many simply either haven't been taught history/government correctly or maybe their parents were authoritarian or maybe there's an authoritarian gene that has caused two friends of mine to say...

People who disrespect Trump should be punished. Said in complete sincerity. Did this person never, ever hear of freedom of speech. Yes, just not committed to it or proud of it. Hint: If you have an opinion that Stalin would wholeheartedly endorse, maybe time to evaluate your values?

It's fine for immigration officials or police to board buses in Florida and demand documentation. My response to this opinion was that I don't care if it's legal. When the authorities behave like the Gestapo, you must come up with a better plan because Gestapo is unacceptable in this country.

Thanks for another good post!❤
