I'm moving back there next week after 15 years in northern Indiana.

I moved there site unseen and didn't know what to expect, but I fell in love.

(285 posts)and am looking foward to going back. I was just hoping to maybe connect with some fellow Duers at some point there. I agree, it's a great city.

(811 posts)The place has changed a lot in 15 years. You HAVE to hear the acoustics in the Schermmerhorn!

(285 posts)I will be subbing some with the orchestra. They are great! Yes, I'm looking forward to playing in that hall.

(285 posts)and let you know if I get free vouchers. I used to play there back in the early 90s. They usually gave us a couple of tickets depending on the concert.

(811 posts)we've got some real issues here in TN. As you know, Nashville is pretty Blue. But, there are some issues with the State Legislature, even though the State itself tends to be Centrist.
The State Legislature was primarily Democratic. Thanks largely to the efforts of a DUer, The State Legislature voted to get rid of electronic voting in favor of verifiable paper ballots. The Republicans argued that the electronic machines were expensive and that the conversion to paper ballots should be delayed until after the next election. Well, SURPRISE! The Republicans "somehow" swept the state Legislature and then declared that the conversion to paper ballots would - again - be too expensive and basically decided to ignore the law they helped pass.
Then, they passed Voter ID Laws to disenfranchise Dem voters.
Then, they started re-redistricting.
So, we've got a lot of work to do. I refuse to give up on TN like so many do.
