It's an unsettling thought, to say the least.
But, Mueller is a Republican and few have been willing to break with their president and their Party.
Will they be able to turn Mueller the way they turned Rosenstein?
However, Mueller did not stand behind Barr at his pronouncement. His report said something totally different from what Barr said. Also, he knows the full story about Donald Trump. In the end, we have to believe that he will stand with his country over his Party. He will prove to be a profile in courage.
Mueller will contradict Barr and Rosenstein and that will be the catalyst that begins the process of impeachment. He will answer the call of history.

(3,344 posts)And the report is catastrophic for the president.
It will be more interesting to see what Mueller says about Barr's descriptions of his report and also any interactions between Mueller and Barr and Mueller and Rosenstein.

(3,836 posts)At the rate our "heroes" keep falling, it's a good bet that if Mueller falls too, we are most likely doomed. Not that I have put all my hopes into the Mueller basket, but he has been at the forefront of belief in the American ideals of truth and justice for a couple of years now.
I do not get why republicans are so smitten and in love with dictator wannabe, trump. The more trump talks about a 'coup' the more apparent it is that he is doing his best to perpetrate one on We The People and the US Republic.

(111,110 posts)It will be difficult for the Republicans to continue to stand united when Mueller makes his stand, in my opinion. It wil give the Democrats the courage to do what they felt needed to be done all along.

(3,836 posts)I can see it happening. If Mueller is the straight arrow people say he is, then your scenario will be the best and brightest outcome. Something of this magnitude needs to happen and soon.

(1,835 posts)Ever hear of Jeanne Mayell? Look her up if not. She foresees Muellers testimony as a critical turning point just like you. She is a psychic who also says that she saw Mueller busily cleaning out all the trash but then suddenly she foresaw him surrounded by darkness and all of his tools taken away, basically hanging upside down. Given what weve seen in the last month, I think Jeanne is right and Barr and Rosenstein shut Mueller down. On the bright side, she foresees his testimony as being catastrophic to the evildoers in the KGOP also.

(111,110 posts)Barr was quick to point out that the decision was his and Rosenstein's. It was a power move. Mueller and his team were able to hold it off for a few weeks, but finally, alas, they did Trump's bidding.
Trump is doing his best to destroy Mueller's reputation.
I agree that his testimony could create chaos in the Trump-Barr camp.

Is anyone else worried about this Shrubya appointee?
I've heard how serious he is, a dedicated professional, yada yada yada. But remember when he was appointed? (September 4, 2001 I believe) And by whom? (George Dubya B*sh)
Look, I don't want to derail this conversation into Creative Speculation territory, but is a Republican-appointed law officer really who we want on this job? And not just any Republican, but the administration that lied us into a $1 Trillion war of choice that exacerbated just about every situation across the Middle East?
Plus, yes, we should talk about Mueller's role in the official 9/11 conspiracy theory that 19 guys with box cutters were able to defeat all North American Air Defenses for a period of hours, such that the asymmetric forces of two passenger jets hitting two buildings somehow managed to collapse THREE buildings (WTC 1, WTC 2, & WTC 7) neatly into their own footprints.
Flame away if you'd like, but I am not optimistic.

Two years on, I'd venture that investing further hope in Mueller is a fool's errand (not to mention nearly two decades since the rather implausible Official 9/11 Conspiracy Theory was advanced by the PTB). By all means, we should have Mueller testify before Congress, but he should be one of many witnesses subpoenaed as part of several Congressional investigations. And we shouldn't be afraid of anywhere the truth leads us.
It's past time for Democrats and Independents who love this country and Constitution to take the lead rather than waiting even longer for any particular Republican to save us.

(21,786 posts)Mueller's report is an impeachment referral. So the answer to your question is most likely "no".

(32,748 posts)If trump were a Democrat, mueller would not have hesitated to force trump to testify under oath. He would not have stopped short of indicting trump on perjury and obstruction of justice. And look at his lame excuse for not indicting Don Jr. Too dumb to know what he was doing?! Are you fcking kidding me?!
F*ck all of those trump covering traitors! It's up to democrats to act. FFS, stop waiting for republican saviors, they don't exist!

Hell, Bill Kristol gets quoted here regularly. Bill Freaking Kristol.
So the R after Muellers namewho is as respected on a bipartisan basis as can be possiblemeans little in and of itself.

(67 posts)Mueller knows When and how all the collusion occurred. If he lays it all out in an open session, then even the Repukes will have to agree on impeachment. If on the other hand he echos Barr's lie of "no collusion", impeachment is over.
Let's hope he does what's right for the country.
Why not? Much of what's been said about the Mueller report requires fairly selective reading, sometimes with a bit of added content or assumptions.
And it might no be because he's (R), but because that's what he actually thinks the report's contents--which, after all, he assembled and collated--imply or entail. Not every disagreement with "us" is because they disagree with the greater truth on partisan grounds. That would imply a far greater degree of infallibility than we actually possess.
