By plain, common sense reasoning, how do they expect people to rally around them when they are unable to stand up for their own? If the right wing says it, well, they can't counter it, it might offend the right wing. What about their OWN base?

Journalism in the form of a question is always tendentious, over-sold bullshit; a scare story put out by reporters because they don’t actually have sources and facts to back it up, but want to turn some run-of-the-mill rumour into a national controversy or panic.

It's just a variation of the old FOX News "some people say..." scam, perfected by Trump to con his Bund Rally deplorables.
