I believe the only way a candidate can inspire voters to choose them is by laying out a bold, unapologetically progressive agenda designed to positively impact those same voters lives. "Im not Trump is not enough. (2/2)

(83,989 posts)[div class="excerpt"Susan Sarandon says she believes Hillary Clinton would have been a dangerous president and she doesnt regret voting for Jill Stein an opinion she says has resulted in verbal attacks from Hillary supporters.
In an interview with The Guardian, the 71-year-old actor rejected the idea her decision to vote for the Green candidate was a protest vote, maintaining the Bernie Sanders write-ins were more of a protest, and said New York was an easy place to vote for Stein.
Asked if she had previously commented that Clinton would have been more dangerous than Trump, the actor told The Guardian: Not exactly, but I dont mind that quote. I did think she was very, very dangerous. We would still be fracking, we would be at war [if she was president]. It wouldnt be much smoother. Look what happened under Obama that we didnt notice.]

(12,448 posts)and sure enough, it's blowing up as we speak. But unlike most Americans, she can afford the blowup. She'll still have her luxury homes, her huge bank accounts, etc. And she really doesn't care about those who are suffering from the blowup.
It would be okay if she just did her own thing quietly, voted for Stein or a write in or Beelzibub. But she uses her fame as a platform to incite the very gullible (or stupid) to do the same, and that's what makes her dangerous.

(287 posts)To spew forth your opinions on cable news shows. SS is an opportunistic, unhinged, sociopath, and the cable news networks are all too eager to trot her out and gives her way too much screen time just to sow division. Of course SS has the freedom to voice her opinions, but she gets a blaring megaphone to do so. It is riduculous to scold us for speaking out, in a very limited platform, against someone like SS.

It's not about who she personally voted for in NY, but about who she may gave influenced in states where it did matter. Gore was only 538 votes from beating Bush (even under the rigged scenario in Florida). And in 2016, any anti-Clinton voices were magnified by the trolls, foreign and domestic, so one (outspoken) Clinton hater could have an outsized effect.

She had one vote. And Stein and the Greens received 1% of the total votes. The Libertarian party, who, if you'd say the Greens steal from the left, you could say they steal from the right, got three times that...3%.
She was loud and obnoxious and stubborn in her belief that Hillary and the old guard of the Democratic party were too pro-war, too pro-corporate, and that a Hillary Presidency represented a slow slide away from her core liberal principles, if Trump was a headlong rush. Which she saw as being more dangerous, because it was more invisible. That was her beliefs, which she had every right to have. If she got a few more to side with her because of her public appearances, it had next to no effect on the overall results.
Stop blaming other liberals for the loss! It plays right into Putin's and GOP trolls hands. Instead we should be finding common goals we can all work towards. Win them over rather than exclude and ridicule them. That is my belief.
LiberalLovinLug
(14,178 posts)They have and are and will continue to employ trolls to stoke any divide they can see. And those that are started by Democrats themselves are the best because its much easier and they can be more invisible. Just look at this thread!
And the Sanders/BernieBros/Sarandon/Stein vs. the good pure lifelong Democrats that don't rock the boat is low low hanging fruit ripe for the picking. EVEN THOUGH WE ALL AGREE ON ALMOST EVERY ISSUE!.
I'm often surprised at how Americans run into their own Party camps first, and follow the edict of party first - policies second. So that another party, who shares 90% of their beliefs is just as much an enemy as the one that shares 10% if that. Or that if you are not a full time member, no matter how hard you work for them, how long you have worked for them, you are still an outcast, and any thoughts you have towards the party improving is seen as an ATTACK!.
I have formed my more liberal beliefs during my lifetime from my own research, my own experiences. I support any person that raises their voice for these kinds of societal progressions. Whether a private citizen who may go "too far" in their passion and make a protest vote, or even if they choose to lead a party like the Greens, an internationally respected progressive minded environmental party. Is there some part of me that thinks...."hey, if only everyone to the left of center always voted Democratic, especially last election, we'd be in a better place."? Of course. But lets be realistic, one of the great things about American democracy is allowing dissenting opinion even those that think Democrats don't go far enough or fast enough towards the goals they want to see fulfilled. Surely one has to allow some understanding that Democrats will not be able to satisfy every single person that also won't vote for Trump. Its juvenile to think otherwise, and even more juvenile to taunt them like children in a playground.
My personal beliefs come first. Then party. Preferenced with...the party most likely to win. Is that wrong? It just so happens that the Democratic party syncs with those beliefs and priorities the best. I would most likely not support the Democratic party if they had retained their same agenda as in their pro-slavery days. If a party sways too far in one direction away from ones personal beliefs, as with Sarandon, then she has every right to protest that.
We should have patience with these folks. Sarandon and Stein are a part of the family, the family of liberalism worldwide. Yes maybe they are the whiny teenagers who don't want to eat supper with the rest of the family, and cause all kinds of turmoil, but they are family non the less. Especially compared with those living in the Trump Estates down the road. Liberals are being reduced and attacked everywhere with the rise of right wing authoritarians, not just in the US. The latest is Brazil. This petty character assassination against those who share our beliefs, but simply disagree with who can best deliver them, is frankly destructive to the goals WE ALL want eventually. It sure saves a lot of work for the trolls.
And for sure, Putin salivates at this self inflicting wound he can exploit. Because for Putin, and other right wing corrupted leaders, it is also a world wide view they share. Its time American liberals also viewed it that way.

I don't know what fantasy world Sarandon lives in , but I can never see "dangerous" Hillary Clinton taking away peoples health care, that Obama helped them get, or separating children from their parents and caging them like animals, among the other disgusting things we have seen Trump enact. I wonder how Sarandon feels about the measles epidemic we now have, thanks to idiots like Jill "anti - vax" Stein. This country is in worse shape than it was 4 years ago, so much for Sarandon's "revolution". Such bullshit.
